WHAT’S THAT YELLOWISH LIQUID ON TOP OF MY GREEK YOGURT? 👀
“Wait… is it spoiled already?”
Nope! That little bit of liquid is called WHEY.. and it’s completely NATURAL. 🤍
Whey is a natural part of milk that can separate from the thicker yogurt as it sits, especially during storage. And yes, even strained Greek yogurt can develop a small amount of whey over time.
So, what should you do with it?
🥄 Stir it back in!
This is our recommendation. It keeps the whey and its nutrients in your yogurt while giving it a smoother, creamier consistency.
Or, if you love your Greek yogurt extra thick, you can simply drain it off. You can even save the whey and use it in smoothies, baking, or cooking instead of throwing it away.
A little whey does NOT automatically mean spoiled yogurt. However, if you notice mold, an unusual or unpleasant smell, or other clear signs of spoilage, it’s best not to consume it.
So the next time you open your Aloran Dairy Farm Greek Yogurt and spot a little yellowish liquid…
Don’t panic— it’s just WHEY! 😉
Now tell us— are you team Stir It In or team Extra Thick? 🥣
