He’s a 10, but he’s listening to your dead sister’s voicemails??? 😭😹
Completely lost my mind and let Netflix win this week 😭🎬
I didn’t have high hopes for this movie. I mean, 90s rom-coms are top-tier royalty, and lately, the new ones we get are way too cliché, too focused on slow-mo shots, or just pure cringe. But wow, I was proven wrong. If producers keep supporting this direction, the rom-com era might officially be back! 😭✨
Here’s my totally obsessed review of Voicemails for Isabelle on Netflix. 👇
📞 The Premise
I watched Jill (the phenomenal Zoey Deutch), an aspiring pastry chef in San Francisco who is completely shattered after losing her little sister, Isabelle, to cystic fibrosis.
To cope with her overwhelming grief, Jill keeps calling Izzy’s old cell phone to leave these long, beautifully raw, and often hilarious audio diary voicemails.
What she has no idea about is that the number was reassigned to Wes (Nick Robinson), a high-dollar real estate agent in Austin.
Instead of doing the normal thing and hanging up, Wes gets completely hooked on her messages, flies out to San Francisco, and orchestrates a total “stalker-lite” meet-cute without telling her the truth.
🎸 Why I fell in love
The S-Tier Chemistry
The Sisterhood Core
The Elite Needle Drops
The Secret Sauce Supporting Cast
❌ The Reality Check
Wes is Low-Key Creepy
The Mid-Movie Slump
Unnecessary Additions

🏆 My Final Verdict
It’s formulaic, a little bit icky if you overthink the premise, and shamelessly steals from You’ve Got Mail. But honestly? It works beautifully because it has genuine jokes, massive emotional weight, and a gorgeous main couple. It’s a modern rom-com done right.
MY FINAL SCORE: 🍿 8/10
