English is full of "hidden" meanings, and today Iām thinking about Phrasal Verbs. These are the combinations of a verb + a preposition that change the meaning entirely!
If you want to sound more natural when you speak, these three are essential for your daily routine:
1. Turn on / Turn off š
Definition: To start or stop the flow of electricity to a device.
In action: "Don't forget to turn off your lights before you leave!"
2. Look up š
Definition: To search for information in a book, map, or database.
In action: "If you see a word you don't recognize in this post, look it up!"
3. Hang out ā
Definition: To spend time in a certain place or with certain people socially.
In action: "I'm planning to hang out at the cafe this weekend and relax."
š Why are these so important?
Native speakers use phrasal verbs constantly in casual conversation. Learning them helps you move past "textbook" English and into real-world fluency.
Challenge for you: š
