Proper kid management is essential in successful goat production. During the first 1–3 months, I supplement newborn goat kids with milk to support strong body development and immunity. They are then gradually introduced to grazing areas with quality forage. Why buck urinating on his own face? but few understand what is actually happening.
It’s not filth.
It’s not "madness."
It’s reproductive biology.

During the breeding season, the male produces high levels of testosterone.
And here is something many don’t know:
By urinating on his face, beard, and front legs, he saturates himself with his own scent.
That scent contains chemical compounds and pheromones that stimulate the females.

To us, it might seem unpleasant.
To a doe in heat, it’s a clear signal that this male is ready to breed.
His reproductive organ is long and thin because of an anatomical adaptation specific to the species.

In the field, once you understand this, you stop seeing it as something "gross."
It’s not that the buck is dirty.
It’s that nature has mechanisms that we don’t always understand.
