Locals 👌
One of the things I truly appreciated tonight was hearing a Tumandok (local) share stories from the past about what life used to be like on the island. He spoke about the everyday struggles, like filling a water tank at the top of a resort without pumps or any modern equipment. They had to haul buckets of water by hand until the tank was full. In return, the resort owner would pay them, and that money went toward feeding their families.
He also shared a fun bit of local lore the story behind a beach they call “Punta Inamo,” named after a rock shaped like a gorilla’s head, Island charm. 👌
