CMU-CBRICE Supports Valencia City’s Bamboo Initiative
VALENCIA CITY, BUKIDNON — Central Mindanao University–Center for Biodiversity Research and Innovation for Community Empowerment (CMU-CBRICE) joined the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Valencia City in exploring bamboo as a strategy for inclusive poverty reduction and sustainable community development.
On July 26, CMU-CBRICE, together with the Mayor’s Executive Assistants, visited NUMAT, a bamboo processing plant in Manolo Fortich, to learn about bamboo processing and its livelihood potential. The group later met with Cong. Alba in Damilag to discuss bamboo as an inclusive poverty reduction strategy.
The activity was organized by Dr. Almer Alfonso, proponent of the Valencia Bamboo Movement Program. The LGU has tapped CMU-CBRICE for technical support, with a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) currently under review by the CMU Legal Office.
