Spent a quiet Sunday morning at Firehook in Bacolod, and the whole place just felt nice to settle into.

The area along Buri Road was calm that morning, and once inside, there were so many pastries to look at. Everything looked very yummy, but we ended up getting the Apple Crumble Danish and Banana Nutella Danish.

Both were really good. Flaky, buttery, sweet, and easily the best part of the visit.

The coffee was decent, around a 7/10 for me. It could still use a little improvement, especially when the pastries are this good.

Still, it was such a nice way to spend a Sunday morning. Good pastries, coffee on the table, and a calm little corner of Bacolod to enjoy for a while.

If you’re a tea lover, you might want to check this out.

This is Abacá Tea Co., the newest concept from The Abaca Group, and it’s all about handcrafted tea drinks and Asian-inspired pastries. Their very first kiosk just opened at SM City Cebu.

We got to try two of their drinks and three pastries, and we spent around Php 800.00 for everything.

First is the Lemon & Strawberry Foam. It’s made with English Breakfast tea, fresh lemon, cream cheese foam, and freeze-dried strawberries. This one’s one of their signature drinks, and I can honestly see why. It’s creamy, citrusy, and surprisingly refreshing.

Next is the Peach Passion Fruit Sparkling Tea. Sweet peach, tropical passion fruit, and a hint of cucumber make it super light and refreshing. Perfect if you want something fizzy but not too sweet.

For the pastries, we had their Matcha Cream Puff, the Cheddar & Chive Savory Biscuit, and the Kouign-amann. My personal favorite was the Matcha Cream Puff. The filling was rich without being too sweet, and the pastry was nice and light.

They also surprised us with a complimentary Coffee Cake, which was such a nice touch.

If you’re looking for a refreshing drink that’s not your usual coffee run, Abacá Tea Co. is definitely worth checking out.

There’s always something special about pizza and pasta restaurants that flaunt their crust-making in public.

That’s exactly what drew me to Pizzeria Michelangelo — thin crust, satisfying flavors, and a touch of booze that turned a random Halloween night into a surprisingly great dinner idea.

You can build your own pizza masterpiece or trust their specialties — either way, you’re getting a slice of Italy without the passport drama. Add in some classic dishes on the side, and suddenly you’re saying “mamma mia” like you mean it.

The pasta and meatballs stole the spotlight — rich red sauce, punchy flavors, and that comforting, old-school Italian charm that never goes out of style.

The pizza? Thin, crispy, and loaded with just the right amount of flavor. It’s the kind of pie that makes you question every thick-crust decision you’ve ever made.

The Caesar salad was fresh, simple, and timeless — crisp greens, creamy dressing, and the kind of crunch that makes you feel a little healthier than you actually are.

I ordered the fizzy sangria too — light, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweet to cut through the pasta and pizza. It’s dangerously easy to finish (you’ll think about ordering another before you realize you probably shouldn’t).

Great experience overall — cozy vibes, friendly staff, and good value for money. Paid ₱1,600+ for two, which felt pretty worth it for a little taste of Italy in Cebu.
