This restored wooden louver is inspired by traditional Filipino houses, where ventilation and protection were thoughtfully built into everyday design. Operated through a simple wooden lever, the overlapping wooden blades can be opened and closed like blinds—allowing fresh air and natural light to flow through while maintaining privacy.

Its true value shines during typhoons and strong winds. When the blades are closed, the louver still releases trapped air and wind pressure through the gaps, helping the house “breathe” instead of fighting the storm. In stronger gusts, the blades can naturally give way and slightly self-open, letting excess wind escape and reducing the force against the structure—an old-world, practical feature made for the Philippine climate.
