GREENTAYO AT CIRCULAR ECONOMY RESEARCH PRESENTATION. ’s Co-Founder and Advocacy Manager Patmei Bello Ruivivar served as one of the reactors to the Circular Economy Presentation conducted by Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability - IDIS.
Patmei shared what she learned from founder Irene Santiago about making change meaningful and sustainable, which must involve three things: (1) conceptual shift - rethinking and rewriting colonial and patriarchal narratives; (2) technical skills - building our capacity to be effective changemakers and alternative system builders; and (3) political organizing - big changes can only happen when people work together as a powerful movement.
She added that personal and individual change is good but it is not enough. We need to create a conducive environment and a system and structure that will enable the behavioral changes we want.
It was wonderful to have meaningful exchanges with fellow circular advocates. Patmei thanked Ms. Norma Javellana — who is part of the IDIS Board of Directors and Datu Bago Awardee, recognized for her environmental advocacy — for blazing the trail for the new generation of Davaoeño advocates in promoting circularity in Davao City.
IDIS Executive Director, Atty. Mark Peñalver, and UNDP Project Coordinator, Mie Shen Reyes are both excited to collaborate with GreenTayo’s “Green Tagging” initiative to incentivize people and enterprises to shift to circular practices.
