Genesis 1:31 NIV
[31] God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day... Genesis 2:8, 15
[8] Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.
[15] The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it...Ecclesiastes 3:11-13
[11] He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. [12] I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. [13] That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God... Psalms 8:3-9
[3] When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, [4] what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? [5] You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. [6] You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: [7] all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, [8] the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. [9] Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Creation points to the wonder of God’s handiwork and reminds us of His power and presence. Billy Graham once said, “No matter where we are, we certainly can sense God’s presence and be impressed by the beauty of His creation, if our hearts are right. The Psalmist declared, ‘The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it’ (Psalm 89:11).”
This Earth Day, pause and reflect on the beauty and stewardship of the world around us.
