ART WITH PURPOSE 🎨

Grade 5 learner Junno Dwayne Briones is turning his love for art into a meaningful after-school activity by creating on-the-spot portraits priced from ₱50 to ₱100.

Using graphite and charcoal pencils, Junno draws customers and well-known personalities without tracing prepared outlines. His earnings help support his studies while also contributing to his family’s needs.

Junno is registered with the Caloocan Persons with Disability Affairs Office under intellectual disability. His guardian also identified him as having ADHD during the original video feature. These details are presented according to the family’s statement and his official PWD record without making any further medical conclusions.

His dedication to art began long before his work gained attention online. Junno has created portraits, landscapes, and assemblage sculptures and has also received recognition in several art competitions.

He placed second in a Grade 5 still-life drawing contest during his school’s National Arts Month celebration and earned another second-place finish in a school art competition in 2025. In 2024, he won first place in his category at NORFIL Foundation Inc.’s “Draw Disability” event.

Junno attends school before spending some afternoons or weekends practicing his craft and accepting portrait requests. A nearby bakery has also allowed him and his guardian to use a safe space where he can continue drawing.

His journey highlights what young artists can achieve when their talent is met with encouragement, proper support, accessible opportunities, and a community willing to believe in their potential.

Handa akong maglaan ng oras at panahon gamit ang aking talento sa taong karapat dapat iguhit.

Ilang araw kong pinag-isipan kung sino ang susunod na aking iguguhit after ng last client na nagpa-commission ng Family Portrait.

May time na nag facebook lang ako at nakita ko ang issue tungkol sa "Ibinasurang Paraiso". Isa ako sa nagpapasalamat kay Maam Kara David at sa lahat ng staff ng I-Witness na naglaan ng panahon at sakripisyo para malaman ng taong bayan ang kalagayan ng ating kalikasan at ang ating kapatid na mga Ayta. Isa kayong instrumento na nagligtas sa kalagayan nila doon at sa lahat!

Kaya naman ang naisip kong iguhit ay si Maam Kara David. Sana mapansin at makita mo itong munting regalo at pasasalamat ko sa inyo po.
