We wrapped up our Farmstead Earthworks workshop yesterday. 🫢🏽

We will share more in photos, but for now, enjoy this video. Sights, exchanges, hard work, glimpses of farm life, and lots of tampering. πŸͺ¨πŸƒπŸ’ͺ🏾

We always enjoy unlearning and growing with those who chose to learn with us. πŸ™‚

How many rammed earth structures can you find at Miranalla Farm? πŸͺ¨

If you spend a weekend with us, you get to see it up close, feel its textures fully, and try to figure out what natural materials we are using. There’s no fixed formula (like 1:2:3 or 1:2:4 in construction)!

You can learn how to build it like how we do it. We still have a few slots available for our upcoming Farmstead Earthworks Workshop. Pwede pa mu-apas!

What you will learn:
πŸͺ¨ What and why are we building in this way?
πŸͺ¨ How are we integrating the things we learn in permaculture as we build our rammed earth structures?
πŸͺ¨ With lots of soil play and mixing and hands-on application!
πŸͺ¨ ...and so much more!

It’s essential to work with nature and with people. πŸƒπŸ€πŸ§‘β€πŸ§‘β€πŸ§’β€πŸ§’ That even includes how we build our farm structures with rammed earth, building from where we are with what we have.

What β€œwe have” means is using what’s available in our location and in our neighboring towns and building with the skills and experience of our construction team, who have also gotten better!

Here’s a throwback video taken by last year when she was walking around the farm and got to witness the hands hard-at-work ramming our stairs and walls. Yes, even our pathways are made with the rammed earth technique. πŸ™‚

If you are joining our upcoming Farmstead Earthworks Workshop, you will get to meet and learn from them!

We still have a few remaining slots!

"Sa permaculture, importante ang silingan. Magsturyahanay 'ta ug mangita unsa pwede i-suporta." -Ate Marj, Miranalla Permaculture Farm

In Permaculture, people are part of our delicate and resilient ecosystems. This is part of our principle in community-driven economy. This hot and bright Sunday afternoon, neighborly relations grew; right after being blessed by rain last night!

Ate Marj shared the impacts of the regenerative farming practices we do at Miranalla. Allen, our volunteer, also invited the community to look closely at our environmental context in Guinacot, Guindulman as a starting point of observing how our relationship with our environment shapes our quality of life. As Ate Marj said, "Kung ampingan nato ang yuta, palanggaon pud ta sa yuta." (If we take care of our land, the land takes care of us.)

Our little community contributed their produce, had a cook-out, and enjoyed pansit with squash, fried curried bani (banana stem), calamay (coconut jam), boiled cassava and banana, and lemon grass juice.

Salamat sa among mga silingan, sa Masayag Farmers Association, ug mga bag-ong amigo gikan sa local government of Guindulman!
