📍UMBERSEED COFFEE Tupi, South Cotabato
3rd time's the charm. I think we tried to visit the place for twice already but na-timing pirme closed sila. And finally for the 3rd time nakatry gid man. This little cafe along the national highway of Tupi feels like it doesn't want to be found. It's giving iykyk vibes with their inconspicuous black signage and tiny bench outside. Inside, it's literally small yet it felt huge: an active roasting machine right at the entrance and a shelf of thriving Monsteras, Pothos, etc. A pc setup right beside it, which I think is for automating the roasting process. Tuod ila plants di pareho sa iban luhhh shade. It's full of quirks but never pretentious ❤️ love2 the kuring sa shelf randomly gatago and frolicking with the plants.
Anyway, I already ran out of beans so need to restock and as a roaster may baligya sila. I got their 250g single-origin medium dark Matutum robusta beans for Php350. That's around 18 cups of coffee na no . Robusta enjoyer na po tayo coz pamahal na nang pamahal ang arabica and mas functional tbh pampagising ang robusta. And Region 12 has very decent robusta so mas accessible na siya sa aton. Daming sinabe. Natry ko na ang beans sa balay. Sa biyahe pa lang hamot-hamot na ang pack of coffee. Aroma is strong, inviting, and tastes with fresh dark chocolate hints which others literally call... Pait 😭 pero guys tbh may ara gid man abi other flavors ang kape 😭 .
They also have wide choices of matcha drinks but picked the usual latte (suggestion ni ma'am barista). Their matcha has subtle bitterness and deep umami tho I would've have preferred less sweetener so it's a 4.5/5. Pero it's definitely a 5 next time kung pabawasan ko ang syrup hehe. Kanya-kanyang panlasa lang naman yarn.
My only frustration about this cafe is hindi sila located sa Marbel. Yun lang. Tupi has a gem to keep. Diri na ko mangape/matcha every time magbiyahe pa-Gensan.
Ma'am barista was so enthusiastic to share some quick honest takes about coffee and considerate enough to provide large ice cubes (nga hindi pang tanduay) to maintain the cold drink temp since we were traveling under the extreme el nino sun. ❤️❤️❤️
