You are not your emotions.
There was a time when I thought every emotion deserved a permanent address in my heart.
If I felt afraid,
I believed I had become a fearful person.
If I felt lonely,
I convinced myself that I would always be alone.
If I felt anxious,
I thought something in me was broken.
But someone once reminded me of something I still carry today...
You are not your emotions.
Emotions are visitors.
Some stay for minutes.
Some stay for days.
Some arrive without warning and leave without saying goodbye.
But none of them get to decide who you are.
So lately, whenever life feels a little heavier,
I ask myself a different question.
"What is this feeling trying to teach me?"
And before the day ends,
I look for one thing.
Just one.
One reason to be grateful.
Not because gratitude erases the pain,
but because it reminds me that pain isn't the whole story.
Maybe healing isn't about never feeling sadness again.
Maybe it's learning that hope can quietly exist beside it.
And maybe...
that's enough for today.
This reflection began with a quiet reminder from J.B.A.
Thank you for the reminder that stayed.
