Today, I learned a hard lesson in business.
A customer, referred by a friend, placed an order worth ₱2,216 for delivery to Currimao Port. Since the location is quite far from Laoag (40 mins drive) , I required a minimum order of ₱3,000 for deliveries in that area. However, because the customer came through a friend’s referral, I accepted the order as a courtesy.
We had been discussing the order since yesterday, and early this morning I even sent a message to confirm the details. Trusting the customer’s word and believing in professionalism and commitment, we proceeded to prepare the entire order.
Unfortunately, after everything had already been prepared and was ready for delivery, the customer suddenly canceled the order without any warning.
To all fellow business owners, your time, effort, and resources are valuable. A simple cancellation may seem small to some, but it can have a real impact on small businesses.
Still, we choose to move forward and learn from every experience.
