Safety Officer Job Description

Job Summary:
A Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines. They play a crucial role in promoting a safe working environment by advising on safety measures, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing preventative measures. Their primary goal is to establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Policy Development:
o Support the development of OHS policies and programs.
o Review existing policies and measures and update them as necessary.
2. Risk Assessment:
o Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures.
o Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
3. Training and Education:
o Organize and conduct OHS training sessions for employees.
o Provide guidance on various safety-related topics (e.g., noise levels, use of machinery).
4. Incident Investigation:
o Investigate incidents to determine causes and recommend improvements.
o Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
5. Compliance and Inspections:
o Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards.
o Inspect premises and work activities to identify potential hazards.
6. Emergency Response:
o Develop and implement emergency response plans.
o Coordinate with emergency services and conduct regular drills.
7. Communication:
o Promote a culture of health and safety within the organization.
o Communicate safety guidelines and updates to all employees.

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions:
• This role may require working in various environments, including office settings, industrial sites, and outdoor locations.
• Occasional travel may be necessary to conduct inspections or attend training sessions.
