To The Girls Who Need to Love Who They Are,
First and foremost, I want you to know that you are not alone. I am also one of the many girls out there who fell into society's trap of feeling less than perfect. I was so desperate to find acceptance that I forgot to love myself for the quirky person that I am and recognize my self-worth.
But the truth is, our worth was never meant to come from the world. It was given to us by God long before we ever questioned it.
I know exactly what it feels like to wake up each day and scrutinize the person staring back at me in the mirror. I know what it’s like to scroll through social media or flip through magazines and compare myself to the girls I thought were “perfect” or better than me. As sad as it sounds, in today’s world, feeling insecure can feel more normal than feeling confident.
But just because something is common doesn’t mean it’s true. Because God never created you to be compared, He created you to be set apart.
The insecurity and low self-esteem we have all fallen into? It was never part of His design for us. In Psalm 139:14, it says that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” That means there was intention, care, and love in every detail of who you are.
I dedicate this letter to you. I hope that by hearing the words I wish I had heard years ago, you will begin to see yourself the way God sees you.
I want you to pause and ask yourself: Why do you feel the need to fit into today’s definition of perfection, when that standard is constantly changing and impossible to reach? Is it so you can finally feel “good enough”?
But here’s the truth: you were never meant to earn “good enough.” Through Christ, you already are.
Striving for perfection defined by the world will leave you empty. But there is something you can pursue, something real and lasting: learning to love who you are, both mentally and physically, inside and out, the way God intended.
And that kind of love doesn’t come from achieving perfection, it comes from understanding that you are already loved, already chosen, already seen. One day, you will look in the mirror and instead of focusing on what you lack, you will see the beauty in how God created you: the strength, the softness, the uniqueness.
You will see someone who is not a mistake, not lacking, not “less than,” but someone who carries purpose. You are not defined by trends, comparisons, or opinions. You are defined by the One who created you.
And He doesn’t make mistakes. So be patient with yourself. Be kind to yourself. And most of all, remind yourself daily of this truth: You are loved, not because you are perfect, but because you are His.
Sincerely,
A girl just like you ✨
