Homemade doesn't equate to cheap.
Remember that chains and mainstream sellers have bigger production, thus they order materials in bulk. Bulk means discount. For example, if i buy 1 kg of flour in the supermarket it costs 75pesos. If i buy a 25kg sack of flour from the local supplier, i get it at 950 per sack. So imagine if these chains get a truckload of flour, how much cheaper could it be per kg? They have bigger ovens too. If i can make 15 banana loaves per batch they can produce 60 per batch no sweat! This cuts manpowers costs too.
So you saw a lightning mcqueen cake from a bakeshop run by a big grocery/mall chain and it was dirt cheap. Don't expect a homebaker to give it to you for a cheaper price. Ours is quality over quantity, most especially made with love. If price is your buying drive then you are better of buying that cheap cake. It only means you do not fit the market i cater. Don't hate us for it.
For most of us we bake because of passion. Some of us so we can stay home with our family and help provide for them as well.
Remember that good cakes aren't cheap and cheap cakes aren't good.
