The Pockmark Orange pepper was created in Australia by crossing the Ghost pepper and the Pimenta De Neyde. The pepper starts off black, but turns several different colors before ripening to orange. As they ripen, the peppers look like molten lava because of the purplish orange coloring. The heat level of the pepper is very similar to the Ghost pepper, so the Pockmark Orange pepper averages over 1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units. The flavor of the pepper is fruity, with slight earthy undertones.
