Is this the best Chinese restaurant in Manila?

I can confidently say that I’ve tried most if not all the best Chinese restaurants in Manila. And out of all those I’ve tried, I think I have to give China Blue the crown as the best one. China Blue is the chinese restaurant in

Their dishes don’t only look good, but they taste amazing. They blended classic flavours with a slight twist and made the dishes stand out so much. Their prices may not be cheap, but it is surely worth it. You get what you pay for, and they deliver on quality, service, ambiance, and most of all, flavour.

Mendokoro Ramenba 🍜🥚

Once upon a time, this was the best ramen in the Philippines. really made an impact before. They were making ramen so good that people wouls line up for hours just to get a seat to have their ramen.

These days, there would still be lines on weekends and peak dining hours, but not as much since they branched out and opened quite a few branches. But for me, that hurt the quality a bit. It was still a good bowl of ramen, but it didn’t have that same impact and wow factor it used to have. Not only with the food, but the atmosphere was also just different. I guess that was inevitable and comes with expansion.

What’s your favourite bowl of ramen?

Nothing fancy, just properly made dimsum every time. My favourite order is their bean curd skin roll woth pork and shrimp. And ofcourse, can’t miss their pork buns as well.

What’s your go-to place for dimsum?

Thank You Seafood 🐙🍝🦀

Some of the highs and lows of my dining experience with the hip spot in Power Plant Mall

This post is a little late and noticed that the fried chicken is no longer on the menu. That was really good btw.

The best dishes are as follows:
Ocean Butter Spaghetti. Extremely umami and cooked perfectly. All the flavours just hits the right spots.

Their Fried Pickles were surprisingly tasty. Perfectly fried, just enough zing to it and works well with the dip.

The Salted Egg Soft Shell Crab was another of my favourites. Hard to go wrong with salted egg flavour nowadays. And I’ve always loved soft shell crabs.

Dishes that weren’t amazing, but were not bad as well:

The Pulpo dish had really good components with it, except the pulpo itself. It was tender and cooked well, but there was an after taste that tells me it isn’t fresh. Just like another dish I will mentione later.

The clams in ramen broth was another dish that was okay. The broth was good, the clams were good, and the bread for dipping was good too. But nothing special. Too expensive for what it is. I would have loved more broth tbh.

And now the bad. The Spicy Salmon was just not it. PHP 590 for 5 thin slices of low quality salmon sashimi. No fat, doesn’t seem fresh nor sashimi grade, put together in a way that just doesn’t work. Maybe it was really just the poor quality of the salmon. And to charge that much for that kind of salmon is a sin. Even the texture was terrible and mushy.

Overall, there is a lot to be excited about when dining with them. A bunch of tasty dishes and a couple to avoid. I would question the quality of the seafood used, though. Not sure if they’re fresh. They are also quite expensive for the portion sizes. But like I said, there are some dishes that will make me want to come back. You be the judge!

One of the cravings I had to satisfy during my visit to Manila is the iconic pinoy breakfast of silog. Garlic rice, eggs, pork tocino from , and corned beef from . Nothing can top this combo for breakfast.

Locavore

When in Manila, you need to have a neal from .ph

Though not authentic traditional Filipino food, their own take and spin on the Filipino classics hit the right spots again and again. From their lechon oyster sisig to their sizzling sinigang, every classic dish made their way is delicious.

Maple Walnut & Brown Butter Donut 🍩 HIT ✅

I love donuts and when I hear that a place makes some of the best, I have to try it out. I tried this Maple Walnut & Brown Butter Donut from . While it was on the pricier end for a donut, it was also some of the best I’ve had.

This donut embodies what every donut aspires to be. It says maple walnut and brown butter as its flavour, and that’s what I got. Strong hints of maple and brown butter, with amazing texture from the walnuts. The donut itself was airy and had a great chew to it. Did not feel greasy at all. The flavours all worked together so well. That first bite is something I will remember.

I will make sure to come back and try their other flavours because this really left a mark. Best donut in Melbourne? Possibly.

Army Stew 🍜🍲 HIT ✅

This wasy first time having army stew, and now I know why everyone loves it. This army stew with beef from is a hit!

The army stew is filled with beef, sausage, cheese, tofu, noodles, greens, baked beans, and more. It was stiffed and could easily feed 5-6 people. The soup was rich, spicy, and full of flavour. I found it weird that it had some baked beans and cheese, but for some reason, it just worked.

This was hearty and would be amazing to have on a cold rainy night. While this was my first time ever having it, it definitely won’t be my last.

Burrata with porchetta sa sandwich
Burrata on smoked salmon toast

Burrata itself was really good. But the porchetta was dry, and the toast with the smoked salmon was not edible. Way too hard.

I’ve never had a Sea Urchin as big as my whole hand before. It was fresh, sweet, and creamy. Not for those who don’t like a strong seafood fishy flavour you get from shellfish. But it sure is a treat for those that do.
