Media practitioners, vloggers, and representatives from the City Tourism Investment Office (CITO) and City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of the Island Garden City of Samal joined the “Suroy Ta Sa Samal” tour on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Organized by the Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability (IDIS), the initiative highlights MSMEs across the island that promote sustainable tourism practices and circular economy principles, demonstrating how local businesses can thrive while protecting and caring for the environment.
The tour featured eco-friendly destinations and local enterprises such as Sunny Houses, Monfort Bat Cave, Baum Cafe, Dekada Cafe, La Vida Hostel and Balai Samal, showcasing their various eco-friendly practices in championing sustainability.
These MSMEs practice responsible waste management guided by the 10Rs of circular economy and other sustainable strategies that help minimize environmental impact and promote resource efficiency.
This underscores Samal Island’s growing identity as a sustainable tourism destination, highlighting how local communities and MSMEs contribute to preserving natural resources while boosting eco-tourism and livelihood opportunities in the island.
