5-Day Treatment Guide: Hexamita
⚠️ Note: Hexamita is a common internal parasite that causes white p**p, loss of appetite, sunken belly, or hole-in-the-head. Early treatment is key!
*Day 1
(Isolation & Medication Start)
▪️Separate your Flowerhorn into a hospital tank (around 10–20 gallons).
▪️Raise temperature to 32°C (89°F) slowly.. this speeds up metabolism and medicine absorption.
▪️Add Metronidazole at 250mg per 10 gallons of water.
▪️Add rock salt (1 tbsp per 5 gallons) for extra support.
No feeding today to let the digestive system rest.
*Day 2
(Continue Treatment)
▪️Do a 30–40% water change.
▪️Re-dose Metronidazole (250mg per 10 gallons) after water change.
▪️Keep the temperature steady at 32°C.
▪️Still no feeding if fish isn’t active yet.
*Day 3
(Observation & Light Feeding)
▪️Do another 30% water change.
▪️Dose again with Metronidazole.
▪️If your Flowerhorn shows interest in food, offer medicated pellets (soaked in crushed Metronidazole tablet).
▪️Keep monitoring p**p and energy levels.
*Day 4
(Water Change & Recovery Boost)
▪️Change 50% of the water.
▪️Stop dosing medicine today.
▪️Add vitamins or probiotics (Aquafarm organics) to boost recovery.
▪️Continue maintaining warm temperature.
*Day 5
(Recovery & Maintenance)
▪️Observe behavior and appetite, dapat bumabalik na sa normal.
▪️Feed small portions of clean, high-quality food.
▪️Keep water clean and temperature steady for a few more days before moving back to main tank.
*Extra Tips from Experience
▪️Always keep good water quality (ammonia & nitrite = 0).
▪️Avoid overfeeding, this worsens internal infections.
