DILI NI MAIS HA?😆
Sorghum is a nutrient-dense, naturally gluten-free ancient grain packed with high levels of dietary fiber, plant-based protein, and powerful disease-fighting antioxidants that support digestive wellness, steady blood sugar, and cardiovascular health
Key Health Benefits of Sorghum
1.Supports Blood Sugar Management: Sorghum contains resistant starches and compounds that digest slowly, helping to lower post-meal blood sugar and insulin responses compared to wheat or corn.
2.Boosts Digestive and Gut Health: As highlighted by the Whole Grains Council, its rich dietary fiber feeds beneficial colon bacteria and prevents digestive irregularities.
3.Provides High Antioxidant Protection: Colored varieties are rich in 3-deoxyanthocyanidins and tannins, which Healthline notes help combat cellular damage and lower the risk of systemic inflammation.
4.Aids Weight Management: The combination of dense plant-based protein and viscous fiber delays gastric emptying and extends the feeling of fullness.

This is a legitimate concern, especially for water supply and agriculture in Central Visayas. PAGASA’s latest monitoring says a moderate to strong El Niño is present, and climate models indicate it may persist into the first half of 2027, with a possibility of becoming very strong before the end of 2026.

For the coming weeks, PAGASA’s sub-seasonal forecasts show that much of the Visayas may experience below-normal rainfall, although rainfall can still occur from thunderstorms, monsoon effects, or other weather systems.

🌾 What this means for Central Visayas

Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor should be monitored closely for:

💧 Declining water levels in reservoirs, wells, springs and other water sources

🌱 Agricultural stress, particularly for rain-dependent crops

☀️ Dry spells that can affect planting and crop growth

🚰 Possible water shortages if prolonged rainfall deficits develop

🔥 Increased risk of grassland and forest fires during prolonged dry periods

🌡️ Higher temperatures that can increase water consumption

Importantly, El Niño does not mean that it will never rain. A place can still experience heavy rain or thunderstorms while having below-normal rainfall overall for the month or season.

PAGASA itself notes that El Niño increases the likelihood of below-normal rainfall, which can lead to dry spells and drought in vulnerable areas.

🙏 A timely reminder

For communities in Central Visayas, this is the time to conserve water before a serious shortage develops: repair leaking pipes, avoid unnecessary water use, protect local springs and watersheds, and prepare farmers for possible changes in planting schedules.

The present situation should be closely monitored rather than taken lightly, especially because PAGASA expects the El Niño episode to continue well beyond the next few months.
