Sometimes the route simply ends at the table.

A bottle, 🍇 Touriga Nacional Rose from Dão, good food, good company, and nowhere else to be.

Fresh, easy to enjoy, and very much at home with dinner.

Sometimes that’s all a bottle needs to be.

The winner of last night’s class 🍷

Another evening at West London Wine School , this time exploring the wines of Australia & New Zealand as part of the 8 Week World of Wine course.

Among the wines we tasted, this one was my favourite of the night: Lionheart of the Barossa Shiraz by Dandelion Vineyards

A classic expression of Barossa Shiraz, made from old-vines, some of the vines are over 100 years old and still growing on their own roots.

The grapes are hand-harvested, naturally fermented in open fermenters and the wine spends 18 months in predominantly older French oak.

Such a great choice for the tasting!

A beautiful scene in the wine cellar!

But have you ever wondered why some barrels are painted red?

Originally, the colour helped disguise wine spills and stains from topping-up and barrel sampling.

Today, it’s part practicality, part tradition, and part cellar aesthetics.

And it certainly makes for an unforgettable view. 🍷
