Culture Day (November 3rd) is a national holiday in Japan, and many schools and businesses are closed. It used to be called Meiji Festival, and it seems to have been a day to celebrate Emperor Meiji's birthday.
According to the National Holidays Act enacted in 1948, it was named "Culture Day'' and became "a day to love freedom and peace and promote culture.'' The weather is often nice, and civic sports days and art festivals are sometimes held here.
This is the day when the awarding ceremony for the Order of Culture is held at the Imperial Palace. The awards are given to people who have made outstanding achievements in a wide variety of fields, including art, academia, and architecture.

Happy Halloween!
It was said that on Halloween, evil spirits and witches would come along with the spirits of their ancestors and bring misfortune or mischief to humans, so in order to protect themselves, people dressed up as evil spirits and witches to appear to their friends. This is the beginning of the costume. There is also a theory that evil spirits see this appearance and get scared and run away.
Traditionally, people dress up as frightening monsters and scary things such as witches, ghosts, zombies, Dracula, skeletons, black cats, werewolves, and Frankenstein, but in recent years the variety has become more diverse.
In Japan, costume parades and contests are held at Halloween events, and people enjoy wearing unique costumes.
