It takes 2:18$ to lift up my spirit; in this case a tiny plant holder, thereafter a click feels my heart with light! Not that I live in sorrow, we all need that extra boost at some point in life, at least those who champion individuality! Because I don’t have the brain to understand the surroundings, I don’t wait to receive any of your love, neither bothered whether you dislike me or not; I just deliver what I think I need to!

I think that’s easier for me, now I can’t go study human psychology and try understand your minds! Cooking, Clicking, Long Walks, Music are better options!

I don’t know what mistakes trained photographers would find out from the picture, they are welcome! Let me learn!

BTW, what do I get for you on Thursday, pui-metuli bhaja or tatka koi mach er jhol? I cannot get fish next week, near or around 8-9th, also I would be catering to quite a few countries during this holy month of their’s, yes, there need be variety! As I say, if I wait to see if you love me or not, I cannot do my job I am meant for in social media, better I deliver!

Today morning was my 3rd attempt at it! Since last Friday I had been trying it, each time the taste is good but not the look! Today too, I ain’t happy with the look but told myself, “enough”! I believe refined flour is best for cake, any day! I brushed top with butter, kind of love, ghee too! Have less, I don’t buy the theory ghee is great, no, we know what excess ghee causes. I simply get acidity! I do remember there’s Birthday celebrations within family circuit!

Okay, a friend visited yesterday with child! We had great chat entire evening, at this time they are not willing to be seen in my space, I indeed clicked them! The precious thing friend got is self-made Patishapta, tasting really good, the stuffing is “kheer-narkol”!

I cooked Bengali Food, you know that’s what I like for my guests! I prefer treating my guests in my home with food cooked by me! This statement speaks of my pleasure, doesn’t demean anyone who prefer otherwise; not everyone would have same interest! You may hate cooking and still be my friend! This lonely Sunday calls for an invitation from any of you to treat me with a tall glass of fruits Sundae 😊! Well, I don’t wait or depend on anyone, I find my gateways to pleasure; a morning bake, sharing food ventures with you, a long walk in the evening, playing music or humming few lines!

Cooking will remain my love always! If the cake had been failing, what went too good was the date palm jaggery sweet / nolen gurer sandesh! I did everything using frozen paneer but Labayne shaped them, who gets more claps? Okay, I got exact taste of the best sweet shops in Kolkata whilst Labayne shaped them better than me! If you mingle with me, I would make you love real Bengali Food, not what food houses in Bengal cook but what our homes had been cooking for ages!

I equally love glutinous rice-chicken, sesame balls, few other dishes, the “shutki macher chutney” of Singapore! Let me know, where to get chicken dumplings, I am off pork & beef! Dear West, a simple vanilla cake, butter-jam-bread, butter on biscuit make me happy! End of day, I am “porota-begunbhaja”, “muri-gur-narkol” loving self!

What I cooked yesterday for friends may go for the Birthday revellers of today, I well know my job as the eldest in one section of my family, if only I can remember the dates!

The starters yesterday were vegetarian, oven cooked low oil vegetable cutlet, pineapple salsa, pasta salad! I love fruit salsa! The main course had “pumpkin fry, chilli-mustard-coconut stuffed batter-fried ash-gourd / winter-melon, carrot-green peas roasted moong lentils, ridge-gourd-potato, cabbage kofta curry, sea-bass fish curry, chicken curry, tomato-dates chutney! The fish-head fries and ash-gourd ghonto wasn’t meant for guests!

I chose sea-bass over salmon thinking of the sibling closer to two birthday revellers of today, “I” need not be kept in fore always, I choose chicken over fleshy sea-fish, mutton over chicken, tyangra, Ilish, mola, pabda, bhola, koi, river sprat, charapona, aar mach, small rui-katla, sour fish curry with fresh sweet water fish over mutton or chicken any day!

I have blood-sugar check in 3-4 days, making love with cake rusk doesn’t speak of a sensible person, I always give you the liberty to deal with me your way or not at all but I would do what I want when, how to blame my child & associate? We are too free-willed! Let me sign off today!

Yes, I definitely know it was X-Mas two months back, then Lunar New Year, and for next one month its fasting for many of you, my blog has a lot of suitable recipes for you, also to serve more on your plates, I am good, until I am taken dig at!

But today was Ramkrishna Paramhonshodeb’s Birthday, I was obviously at RKM, Bartley; you may join the evening time events! We worship “akar”, not “nirakar”; so we must respect eachother’s ways!

But who gave me such audacity to try even one line of Nazrul? I just wished to, an untrained voice never should! The next segment is what Ramkrishna Deb believed in that we may follow any faith, we have to be passionate, have the eagerness inside to learn & believe in our actions! I perhaps couldn’t translate well!

I couldn’t just concentrate today in the temple, was unable to connect son since morning, surprisingly could after the prayer session! I am not fit for the temperament of these two guys, they don’t understand me, my fears, lows, highs!

I always say I am a bit of everything, tomorrow again you would see me in the streets humming “janeja, o meri janeja, milenge do diwane”! In between, I would visit your spaces, try to get what you expect of me but I would fail to, I lack grey matter and I am too much of myself to understand others, I am all about “I, Me, Myself”, self-centric, so would continue “Nisha ahaha ahaha”! I don’t wish the sorrow around to turn me crazy!

I think I am self-centric, I admit in public that I seek utmost attention, then I think of giving a bit; or I am not that bad I think myself to be? ゚

We are just humans, we only understand the soft touch, the language of love! Why to expect God like greatness from us, we would make errors, fight, make up, love and all of that is normal! ゚

Greetings to all of you basking in festive mood , , to you and all of us; wish happiness, health, prosperity with my version of Kueh Dadar, GREEN PEAS BENGALI CREPE PITHA @ https://spiceupwithsoma.blogspot.com/2026/02/green-peas-bengali-crepe-pitha.html, with stepwise pictures, its just love served on your snack / dessert plates!

May power & strength of the horse be on us to get a kinder earth, all mentions, pictures of Horse remind me of "Black Mustang" from our textbook. I fell for "Mastang" to "Mahesh", slipped off time to time, don't take me seriously, I am just a bit high on emotion, my eyes get wet now & then, hyper sensitive I am, do I disturb any of you? No na? Just forget it, its impossible to decipher me, I couldn't until date!

I believe my love for "pithe-puli" since childhood automatically gets me to love Kueh varieties. The day I took a bite at Kueh Dadar, I screamed, it's nothing else but patishapta! A diabetic's love for sweet snack / dessert is illegitimate, then, I tend to get hooked to what I am asked not to or supposed to! It might be a human tendency!

Had I have used more of green peas paste, I might not have required to use edible colour. I feared raw smell of green peas, hence used few drops of colour. I ain't fond of artificial colours, flavours, talks. The fool in me feels threatened if you play around intelligently, I don't get anything, excuse me! I didn't try to fold it like Kueh Dadar fearing breakage, I used freshly made rice paste for batter wanting it to be vegan & gluten-free!

I only understand, savour food, music, literature, entertainment industry, nature a bit! Oblivious of what goes around, my constant endeavour is to cook better, click decent and serve love on your plates! That makes sense right?

When you deal with me, consider its blank inside my head, I didn't learn to analyse! I just don't feel like, instead I would experiment with food, constantly try to deliver better. Absolutely no pride be taken in work not delivered well. Whichever field it is, our work should speak volume. This is my belief and I walk in that path! I never encroach, never force myself on anyone, I just deliver my things; again my sensitive self is speaking aloud; let me stop, go enjoy people!

Before I get you my contribution for Lunar New Year, let me share this, an impromptu attempt before leaving bed! Later we would see if we can do better, I feel shy actually, I look lame! Of course, I wished to look good, sing great, be street smart, be an excellent orator; nothing happened! I do all these stupid things but what’s coming to your plates later today is done with lots of love; and that’s my actual business in social media, truly! All of the eleven worthy recipes are @ https://spiceupwithsoma.blogspot.com/p/eleven-recipes-for-offering-fast.html Be it Shivratri, Nilshoshti or any other special prayer meet; I think the following recipes suit to make as an offering, break your fast. In my family, we do not eat salted food on these two days, neither we are allowed to cook on fire. I would have what you see in the first picture, tapioca pearls with fruits, sweets, chilled milk, yogurt! Shivratri to me is not about young girls' "companion hunt" or those who have one, praying for their companion alone. Its, or any prayer for me is seeking bliss for my own & mankind, even for aliens, I find their pictures cute. Many Indian males keep fast on this day, let's pray to The Supremo for peace on Earth, that's need of the hour. This morning I went berserk almost hunting for “Akondo Phool” required tomorrow, also required are Butterfly Pea / Nilkontho / Aparajita which grows every hundred meters here! I dream of cooking & blogging about a butterfly pea fried rice grabbing lakhs of followers overnight, then a dream is a dream! I always dream of absurds, hence……

Those melt In mouth juicy balls are ”rosh bora” soaked in date palm jaggery syrup that one of those three visiting friends you see got us yesterday! It’s poison for a diabetic but feels like heaven inside mouth! Let me then cook it after few months, blog about it!

They graced our home in the afternoon, one of them works full time, I was craving for some cosy chat, they accommodated themselves accordingly for me!

I cook less for my guests these days, yesterday prepared corn chaat, chicken kebab, spiced paneer in oven, steamed soy sauce fish with vegetables, the egg noodles I didn’t cook!

I also made that dessert you see in 4th picture! You might have seen reels about cheese cake like made with yogurt, eggs, cornflour circulating all over social media, I made an impromptu attempt at it, we enjoyed having, later I would bake it mindfully for blog!

Today morning I wasn’t home, needed to buy, banana, coconut, flowers, few variety of leaves and “akondo, butterfly pea” flowers! Before that happily ate idli at a 24/7 open eatery! Tomorrow I have to cross 5 mrt stations to fetch “Bael” fruit and “ladoo”! You would see me doing the same exercise on 12th or 13th April! Dear Island, please do not book me for such petty thefts! I think I have seen “dhutro phool” too, did not tear!

Back home, I started cooking too late; I cooked the red lentils with tomato, fish, prawn, hyacinth beans, banana blossom! The cabbage, kangkong stir fry, eggplant fry I didn’t! Piping hot rice+eggplant fry+butter or ghee+green chilli+salt is a plate I love!

I love biscuit & hash brown at Popeyes, bao & dumplings at foodcourts! This week I ate outside a lot! I speak inconsistent, if today I promise to eat home cooked food, next month I would eat out daily; but one who touches my soul once, I usually keep you, may be in silence but I don’t let go easily!

There's a Shibratri fasting too for us, that's personal, keep your trust on me, I would share a relevant recipe from archive on Sunday and then on Monday or Tuesday, a CNY special recipe, you will see how my Bengali roots treats kueh and makes way to find a place on your plates!
.... and to your hearts? Well, that's too complex! After 300 years of stay in Kolkata, I don't know when they arrived in rest of India, the Chinese community still are not Indians. This isn't fair, although the restaurants at Tangra, early mornings at Tiretta [teriti] bazaar are abuzz even on weekdays, Tannery and Dentists are valued too!

What to complain, I did not learn to use chopsticks in over 15 years of stay, that you have let me roam around freely, safe & secured is reason to be happy! I have discovered I ain't an happy go lucky; melancholic instead, little things pull me down which is bad! Over thinking, self-doubt too!

What makes me immensely happy are my creations! If start to garnish satisfies, it finds a place in my blog, seeks validation from you all! If you recreate them the way I do taking ideas from around, my mission would be fulfilled!

What my personal beliefs are I do not bring forth, there may not be any taker! What I tried to put forth is younger generation's wish! In their run for life & career, let their hearts pause & tremble at the sight of a passerby! Sixty approaching fast, mine gets entangled here and there, I don’t understand w ethe charm of dating apps! Yup, I am obsolete, irrelevant! Although I learnt to love strawberry, I couldn't train my mind to be smart!

This was my two cents today; to live and let live is the best thing we can do to each other! Yes, I am an escapist, I dread crowd & complications!

Social Media is to share good things, that makes us feel better, others happy! This world already has lot of sorrow, why to spread more? Even if we want to teach anyone any lesson, there is a good way to!

What triggers me when I don’t know, but I am a bit of everything I believe, I couldn’t establish a particular image of and on in public!

I am just what you see, many things at different times, that can be deterrent, people get confused and that’s fun for me!

If I could stay within one state of mind, I perhaps would have lots of followers, always flocking around me, taking me to height of satisfaction! But no, that won’t happen!

But the steamed cake I baked today to get you tomorrow is giving me high! I haven’t eaten my lunch, felt let me share in personal space, then go out, sit somewhere!

I don’t own the kind of voice to try such numbers, legends gave voice, I believe Parveen Babi was a naturally glamorous self, she didn’t need to do anything to earn the title!

Whenever she crosses my mind, I feel sad! People had to understand her normal self did not spoke weird things, she was sick! Her colleagues, friends, may be family too had to be considerate!

I know if I could build an image of myself, “ami shukto diye bhaat khai aar bhaktigiti shuni, mandirey shopechi pran-mon”, people could have trust on me, I however can’t fake! Force turns me belligerent!

People stuck in a room irritate me, the world is a learning hub! There I am, always with my earpiece, but only while on footpath!

Raw Papaya costs may be 1$-1:50$ here, but I stole from a roadside tree the day before, cooked “peper plastic chutney”! This loving island’s police would not book me for such petty thefts!

To live life, you need some pleasure! Then, the pictures taken are going for deletion, I think I had to skip turmeric & salt! I guess this chutney is Bengal Caterers’ invention, at least none in family made it ever!

Today, I was at the Orchard area, I always drop down at Dhoby Ghat MRT and walk to and fro! On my way back, had this Garlic Bread from GoPizza and Teh-O-Kosong from the stall beside at Plaza Singapura! I did some casual clicks, its city area with malls after malls; if you go every fortnight, what new to click?

The day before, I had this coleslaw & tomato spaghetti combo for 5$ at Popeyes’! I love it’s fiery chicken fries, don’t visit much! Now they have smaller meals but the drink you have to buy; call me a 420, I won’t buy a cappuccino or latte for 4:20$ and get wind after half an hour!

I love san-wich’s cold, sweet treats; they always have offer; two treats for 5$, one for 3$, it’s been long I control portion at lunches, given I eat lot of carbs! A food blogger has to deal with food and get you ideas, right?

Labayne learnt to cook excellent Luchi besides great noodles & soups! The big plate is fried by Labayne and mine I did next morning! How I loved the noodles today!

That bowl of gooey something you see is a result of an error, whenever I try to take quick route to chitoi pithe, it fails, I make rice flour upma! Good Cooking is sincere efforts, any good thing requires dedication, nah?

What else? I did some casual shopping, I enjoy donning them, getting clicked, share in public….. I love being on the road….. and “rastar meyer” heart sings, “path harabo bolei ebar pathey nemechi, shoja pather dhadai ami onek dhedhechi…..”

13th March is a significant date in the home I was born in, so oftentimes you would see me insisting on 13 pictures, 13 paraphrases!

My Saturday Cooking this week had been minimal, there are stale food to be eaten, people would be travelling next week, hence! As usual, my weekend cooking is majorly Bengali! Today what I cooked are onion stalk-carrot-potato-green peas stir fry, Tyangra / small catfish curry, egg curry, Kakchi / Tiny River Sprat fish-onion-potato medley, drumsticks-potato in green chilli-mustard seeds, Hogg Plum chutney!

Hogg Plums I steal from the roadside trees, cook chutney! They are pretty sweet here, although I am not supposed to have sweet chutney, by chutney I mean all the sweet Bengali varieties of chutney! When it comes to fish dishes, I am a rustic Bengali, to the extreme of a remote Bengal villager! My people love big, fleshy fish, I am happy to have “amodi mach bhaja, dal, bhaat”! The Bengali variety of non-frozen fish comes from Malaysia or Thailand I don’t know!

Yesterday, I felt richer, happier to own two Lakme lipsticks & a Lakme eye pencil from Jyoti Stores! Many companies came & went, Lakme, Lux survived! I get nostalgic to see even “Halo” shampoo in this island’s neighbourhood shops! I am fond of the Maybelline brand too!

I usually want to sit in an eatery with some food! Then, the other day I stood in front of Chola Mart to have their onion pakora & sugar & milk-free lemon tea! A Bengali Boy from West Bengal cooks them, we had a brief chat promising I would visit sooner! It’s opposite Indian Heritage centre!

Yesterday, I also visited 100M mall at Tanjong Pagar! My destination was Tuesde Solutions at 5th floor, they have good offers for your skin issues, decent packages, nice behaviour; you can try! Just below, at 4th floor has Don Don Donki, I went for their fruit & cream sandwich but it wasn’t there! I loved the green tea & vegetarian onigiri but that cheese stuffed roll may be had seafood coverage, smelled! But I do eat butter tossed scallops, crab, prawns, few varieties of seafood I enjoy!

To get rid of awkward burps, I had a red bean stuffed black sesame mochi! Anyday, I prefer the local stall’s warm sesame balls with beans or peanut stuffing! Don Don Donki is pricey, may be its for Japanese buyers, I am happy with my local shops, too cheap & fresh produce!

As usual, my individual plates are of my personal choice! I specially liked that chilled Jasmine green tea I picked up from Prime Supermart! I prefer vegetarian curry potato puffs, but this one had egg in it, my stomach did not grumble is the good news! I definitely did not eat sensibly, need to cut on sweet stuffs! Bengalis do not eat much of ruti / porota / luchi is a wrong information, Indian Bengalis eat both bread & rice, more or less in same frequency!

The rice packet & oil came as CNY gift yesterday night! I am breaking my head what to get to the blog, serve on your plates that suits both CNY & Valentine’s Day celebrations!

Then on 15th, many Indians would be fasting including me! We may fast or may not, but we need not disrespect an occasion, not even a Valentine’s Day, we don’t know about every culture! It does not reflect good on our face, we look bad! I personally do not believe in one day of celebration, that Archies made Valentine’s Day a sensation but how we loved exchanging cards during any occasion, let those who wants it enjoy a valentine’s, perform a prayer, we have to just maintain a decorum!

Kul / sour jujube came for sweet pickle, being done in my family since when I was a kid!
