Today morning was my 3rd attempt at it! Since last Friday I had been trying it, each time the taste is good but not the look! Today too, I ain’t happy with the look but told myself, “enough”! I believe refined flour is best for cake, any day! I brushed top with butter, kind of love, ghee too! Have less, I don’t buy the theory ghee is great, no, we know what excess ghee causes. I simply get acidity! I do remember there’s Birthday celebrations within family circuit!
Okay, a friend visited yesterday with child! We had great chat entire evening, at this time they are not willing to be seen in my space, I indeed clicked them! The precious thing friend got is self-made Patishapta, tasting really good, the stuffing is “kheer-narkol”!
I cooked Bengali Food, you know that’s what I like for my guests! I prefer treating my guests in my home with food cooked by me! This statement speaks of my pleasure, doesn’t demean anyone who prefer otherwise; not everyone would have same interest! You may hate cooking and still be my friend! This lonely Sunday calls for an invitation from any of you to treat me with a tall glass of fruits Sundae 😊! Well, I don’t wait or depend on anyone, I find my gateways to pleasure; a morning bake, sharing food ventures with you, a long walk in the evening, playing music or humming few lines!
Cooking will remain my love always! If the cake had been failing, what went too good was the date palm jaggery sweet / nolen gurer sandesh! I did everything using frozen paneer but Labayne shaped them, who gets more claps? Okay, I got exact taste of the best sweet shops in Kolkata whilst Labayne shaped them better than me! If you mingle with me, I would make you love real Bengali Food, not what food houses in Bengal cook but what our homes had been cooking for ages!
I equally love glutinous rice-chicken, sesame balls, few other dishes, the “shutki macher chutney” of Singapore! Let me know, where to get chicken dumplings, I am off pork & beef! Dear West, a simple vanilla cake, butter-jam-bread, butter on biscuit make me happy! End of day, I am “porota-begunbhaja”, “muri-gur-narkol” loving self!
What I cooked yesterday for friends may go for the Birthday revellers of today, I well know my job as the eldest in one section of my family, if only I can remember the dates!
The starters yesterday were vegetarian, oven cooked low oil vegetable cutlet, pineapple salsa, pasta salad! I love fruit salsa! The main course had “pumpkin fry, chilli-mustard-coconut stuffed batter-fried ash-gourd / winter-melon, carrot-green peas roasted moong lentils, ridge-gourd-potato, cabbage kofta curry, sea-bass fish curry, chicken curry, tomato-dates chutney! The fish-head fries and ash-gourd ghonto wasn’t meant for guests!
I chose sea-bass over salmon thinking of the sibling closer to two birthday revellers of today, “I” need not be kept in fore always, I choose chicken over fleshy sea-fish, mutton over chicken, tyangra, Ilish, mola, pabda, bhola, koi, river sprat, charapona, aar mach, small rui-katla, sour fish curry with fresh sweet water fish over mutton or chicken any day!
I have blood-sugar check in 3-4 days, making love with cake rusk doesn’t speak of a sensible person, I always give you the liberty to deal with me your way or not at all but I would do what I want when, how to blame my child & associate? We are too free-willed! Let me sign off today!
