Our Unexpected Scent Discovery at JB 🇲🇾

and I stumbled upon Sacrée Scent Artisan while wandering around Paradigm Mall and decided to stop for a quick fragrance test.

Out of curiosity, we tested a few scents and were pleasantly surprised. For something this affordable, the fragrances were actually quite nice and wearable.

I ended up picking up the YSL Libre-inspired perfume while Elin chose Chanel Chance. Both perfume are 32ml, $16 / RM50 each. It’s a fun, affordable way to enjoy a familiar scent profile without committing to the full luxury price tag.

We were surprised that each bottle is actually freshly prepared on the spot when we purchase it, which makes the experience feel more special.

The brand says it lasts around 6–8 hours, so I’m curious to see how it performs tomorrow. Elin will be my official fragrance judge ;)

Of course, the original YSL Libre still has that richer, more refined depth. For $16 though, this dupe is decent and a nice everyday option.

New Bag Collection ✨

I finally tried the ever popular sourdough bombos donut 🍩

They started as a home-based bakery. What attracted me was that they use sourdough with both sweet and savoury options. I was intrigued but hold it off for a while until I saw their sourdough kaya. Hopefully next round, I’ll be able to try it out because I missed it.

Currry fish head at Johor Bahru, Pelangi 🇲🇾

Coconut taste in the curry is rather strong and we find the fish meat abit too little, given that we are both small eaters.

We ordered curry fish head (tail) small size, potato leaves vege & one bowl of rice.

Here we are again ~ for Roti kirai 😍

I shared earlier on my own personal fb that we’ve been to this place for so many years now… and mainly for my love of this dish, Roti Kirai or aka roti jala which is a classic traditional Malay dish.

I first get to know this dish at my secondary school canteen. And I love it ever since, for so many years. It doesn’t look fancy, but it somehow hits my heart and it’s so magical to me.

It’s a net-like rectangular / rolled pancake that comes with either chicken or beef curry. In my photos, I cut up the crepe pancake for easier munching. This dish is not too spicy, not too heavy, comforting and homey.

Maybe it’s nostalgia, maybe it’s just pure love for good food. Either way, it always makes me happy.

I bought a few skincare products for my husband to use in his office.

Now that we’re both in our 40s, I really feel it’s time to be more intentional about caring for our skin. Hopefully he’ll stay consistent with these!

I also like to label the back of each product with the date we start using it as every product has its own shelf life once opened, this helps us to keep track.

And yes, the popular Acwell licorice toner was meant for me. Unfortunately, my dry skin didn’t quite agree with it, it actually made my skin feel tighter and even drier.

$𝟒𝟐𝟎 𝐀𝐯𝐞𝐝𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐮𝐥: 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐭? 🌿💸

Initial Intention: Just 1 shampoo will do
Reality: A full haircare system for my oily scalp, for about half the price ($420 ➡️ $255)

My mind says that’s an awesome deal! Beyond the girlmath mindset, here’s what truly sold me:
🌿 Aveda being a well-known Clean beauty botanical brand
🌿 Salons are also using Aveda hair products which implies that it’s a professional grade, high-performance product that experts trust
🌿 A peace of mind from their plant-based and ethical ingredients
🌿 Their products are FREE FROM parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, and more.

I’m not an expert in skincare nor do I CSI every single ingredient. However! It makes me feel more at peace knowing that I’m using ingredients that are supposedly to be Better for my scalp.

The box contains:
A full Invati Advanced lineup for my oily scalp, an exfoliating scalp treatment to deep cleanse my scalp and a Free Full-Size Rosemary Mint Shampoo.

So far, I’ve tried:
▫️the invati hair-loss shampoo and I quite like it. It has a subtle botanical scent, lathers well and my oily scalp feels refreshing after washing.
▫️the exfoliating treatment as well as scalp serum was tried on me at Aveda store. Feels refreshing and clean.

I also gotten a scalp analysis which I saw first-hand the before & after on screen. Before that, my scalp looked somewhat dirty. But after applying the exfoliating treatment & serum, my scalp was deeply cleansed and it looked so clean! I’m convinced that this product works well 😊

Conclusion:
Functionality wise, one can probably find excellent cleansing and moisturising formula from brands such as L’Oreal or Herbal Essences at a fraction of the price.

However what I’m really paying for is that Spa Ritual Experience that makes me look forward to washing my hair every single time.

The combination of the mild aroma-therapeutic scent, the ethical branding, clean ingredients and luxurious feel turns a 10-minute shower into a 10-minute spa retreat. For the enjoyment + a healthier scalp? Absolutely Worth it! ✨

Cavern Restaurant 🍽️
▫️Dining inside a cave ▫️

Had a lovely dinner catch-up at with two of my long-time friends. It has been a while, especially since just got back from working in the US for a few years.

Fun fact: Cavern Restaurant is actually part of the Tung Lok Group. I didn’t know that until today. Often, restaurants with great ambience fall short on food, so we were curious to see how this one fares.

Here’s what we ordered:

🍄 Mushroom Ragout Fettuccine: 7/10
Pasta feels freshly handmade which i really like, texture is nice and chewy. but the sauce was a little thin and missing that something to make it wow. Not bad, but not crave-worthy imo.

🐖 Pulled Pork Tacos (3 pcs): 8/10
The meat was tender with a slight sourish tang. Surprisingly quite refreshing actually. I didn’t expect to like this 👀

🐖 Smoked Pork Rack: 8.5/10
Very tasty!! Crispy edges, tender meat, and when u eat it together with the creamy mash potatoes - so good.

🍟 Truffle Fries: 8.5/10
Strong truffle smell which i loveee. Fries were crisp and seasoned just the right amount.

We were all pleasantly surprised. All 3 of us agreed the flavours and quality were a solid 7–8/10!

That said, service was a little slow (each dish took about 20–30 minutes to arrive), but the cosy ambience and comfortable noise level made up for it. Great spot for long chats and laughter.

All in all, is worth going at least once to enjoy the good ambience and food.

After dinner, we headed over to the ever-popular in Serangoon for round two. Even at 10.35pm, there was still a queue. Proof of how loved the place is!

The moment we stepped in, we were greeted by a strong durian aroma 🍈 that filled the air. Unfortunately, all three of us had to skip the famous durian mousse this time because of flu and sore throat. It really feels like everyone’s down with something these days.

As I’m typing this, I’m already missing that durian mousse. Definitely going back for it once I recover 😂

My bank account is side-eyeing me, but my skin has never felt so pampered. Is it the ingredients, the experience, or just the fancy jar?

Entering my 40s has been a wake-up call to finally, properly, care for my skin. Moving on from my “zero skincare” days, I’m incorporating two beautiful skincare from .singapore.

: A premium, nature-focused beauty and wellness brand from Provence, France, founded in 1976.

I initially wanted to only get myself hair tonic but ended up buying more stuffs from them :p

I used their scalp tonic many years ago that my husband got me as a gift. Back then I was wondering why he gave me scalp tonic from an “unprofessional” hair brand like L’Oreal or Shisedo. To my surprise, the tonic was actually really good and help to ease my itch whenever I used it.

I will make a separate post on this scalp tonic next.

Service at was very good. So I ended up buying their shampoo, body wash, hand wash as well as a gift set for a good friend.

🎁 Their gift packaging is very presentable for gifting.

So far, I enjoy using their lavender body wash and verbena hand wash for the pleasant soothing aroma. I love having a nice shower as though I’m in a spa.

I find their shampoo (Intensive repair shampoo for dry hair & scalp) aroma only so-so though. Perhaps it’s because I’m spoilt by shampoo (which I’m finishing soon). I first used Aesop shampoo when I was having my staycation at Capella Singapore Hotel.

Overall, I enjoy using products and will continue to support. I’ve used some of their skincare samples and I find the quality to be quite good! I love anything that has nice aroma including skincare products. It simply lifts up my mood instantly and makes me happy.

吃喝玩乐日记 🌦️🍽️🍵🦀

We had alot of fun remaking our past 2013 pic vs 2025 today. 🫶🏻

🍰☕️Decided to try out as it was nearby one of the kopitiam we planned to go later for dinner. Surprisingly, the cakes and beverages were really good! We like the black forest cake so much that my friend and I both da bao an extra slice home to slowly savour the next day.

I’ve finished my Black Forest cake and am missing it now again. If I’m not wrong, this cafe offers daily seasonal cake though. Also, the ginger latte is a Must-Try. Super delicious & creamy - all 3 of us agree and approve 💯

🦀 My friend’s colleague highly recommended for seafood, and so we went! Overall, the food was really good and crab meat was fresh with good amount of meat too. I wouldn’t mind going back again with my family for another round of crab feast ☺️

We had: Lou Mai Vegetables (shop signature), Sweet sour pork (very tender), Chilli crab 800g, Black pepper crab 800g

🍪 Our final stop is shopping at Biscuit King which is nearby our dinner place. A very nostalgic shop! This place brings back lots of childhood memories for us 3. And for sure, we have to buy back some of our favorite childhood snacks home to munch.
