《5妹》的故事始于新加坡遭受冠病疾情而实行阻断措施期间。当时许多背井离乡的人民因边境的封锁，不能回到家人的身边。起初大家都以为这封锁只是短暂的，但随着疾情的升温，解封之日遥遥无期。许多异国子女只能另觅他法，以解思乡之愁。
我的母亲最能深切体会这些异国子女的心情，因为她在年轻时独自背井离乡来到新加坡生活。在新加坡封锁期间，她身边许多同乡们都申诉想念家乡的美食。我感同身受的母亲就决定从祖母传下的食谱中用心改良，烹煮了道道美味佳倄，帮助身边的同乡们一解思乡之愁。
我们的宗旨就是要把家乡的味道和温暖送入每一位食客的口里和心里。我们是在一个传统的家庭里成长的，长辈们都教导我们：民以食为天，吃得好就能促进身心灵的健康。这也是我们所遵循和持守的！

鲜、高质量的食材来烹煮，就像在家里煮给家人一样！ 没有用味精，更没有用食盐（我们使用了喜马拉雅盐取代！）。

＂5妹＂的名字源自母亲在家中的排行；标志则是我母亲记忆中在年轻时和祖母一同为家人预备食物的温馨画面。
现在就来《5妹》品尝我们美味的家乡佳倄吧! The story of Wu mei 5妹 (pronounced in pinyin as Wŭ mèi) began during the Lockdown in Singapore due to the COVID pandemic! The immediate closure of the borders had led to family separated from their loved ones. Many thought that this closure would be just a couple of days, but the days turned to weeks, and weeks into months. The feeling of returning home grew stronger, many have sought ways to relieve their feeling of home sickness. My mum could relate to this homesickness, as she was one of the many who left her hometown to venture into the world in her younger days. She have heard many friends voicing out, that they miss their home and traditional homemade food, especially their mother’s cooking. Feeling their pain, my mum decides to embark on this journey to create those familiar homemade dishes with her heart and soul, with the recipes (secret) passed down from our late grandmother. Our mission is to recreate homemade flavours and providing warmth to everyone who reminisces the taste of home! Being brought up in a traditional family, we have always been strong advocate on “Let food be thy medicine and medicine thy food.” - Hippocrates. Eating well is a natural key to unlock individual’s optimal health! Premium & Healthy: We believe in using fresh & high-quality ingredients to serve the food just like how we would at home! No msg and no refined table salt (we have replaced with pink Himalaya salt!)

The name Wu mei 5妹 is derived from her position as the 5th sister among her siblings! The logo was also drawn reminiscing the memory of my mum when she was in her younger days, preparing food for her family made with love together with her mother.
