Where we come from

Australian Ross Bright has been roasting fine quality arabica coffee for the past 23 years 19 of which here in Singapore roasting for major coffee brands.

Originally from Perth Western Australia Ross started the journey with Dome Coffee Australia roasting on a 30 kg Samiac roaster in Carrington Street Nedlands. Dome grew quickly to become the leading cafe franchise business in Perth expanding to Dubai, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Ross was offered a position in Singapore in April 2001 to head up the roasting operations for Spinelli Coffee Company.

Over the past 19 years Ross made strives in the Singapore market raising awareness for specialty coffee, preparation, training which all culminated in his Certification as a World Barista Judge in Berne Switzerland in 2006.

In 2007 Ross was integral in the introduction and setting up of the inaugural Singapore Barista Championships in 2007 held at Suntec Convention Center to be run under the World Championship Rules.

Ross’s travels led him to introduce the World Barista Championship rules and regulations into Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Philippines. He judged around the region and in Mexico, Costa Rica, Japan 2007 and Denmark 2008 WBC competitions.

Ross has trained many judges and competitors who have performed at the WBC competitions and continues to do so in the capacity of Authorized (Specialty Coffee Association ) Trainer AST since 2013.

Over the years Ross has also traveled extensively to various coffee growing regions such as Brazil, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Vietnam etc to meet the farmers and gain an in-depth understanding of the coffee industry. In addition Ross has written many articles for magazines and websites as well as numerous speaking roles at Coffee Outlook in Vietnam.

Ross has also represented companies such a Rancilio, Mazzer, Bezzera, Nuova Simonelli.

In 2019 after 18 years with Spinelli Ross made the decision to move out and start up his own roasting operation. A few months later with a state of the art Probat Roaster and Probat de-stoner Ross is again up and roasting.
