I heard some mixed reviews about this place, so I knew I had to give it a try myself.

I loved the char siew - good balance of meat and fat, great char and caramelisation. The sauce was thick enough to coat everything and had great flavour. The soup had incredible depth and the wantons were plump and big with lots of quality filling. The noodles could maybe have been cooked for a smidge more, and for $7 I thought they could have given 3 wantons instead of just 2, but other than that, one of the better wanton mees around!

I really like my mee siam sour! It's not easy to get it right, but when it is... it's one of life's pleasures!

As much as i enjoy a good bowl of pho, piping hot soup is just not the most ideal dish when the climate's so hot and humid. I tend to lean towards the dry noodle version when i have Vietnamese, with its refreshing tangy sauce, it's bright and vibrant and delicious!

Quintessential Australian fare can often seem... well, not very Australian! BUT, there's genuinely something quite comfortingly Aussie about a fish and chips, which is enjoyed quite differently from your traditional chippy in the UK - different fish, no malt vinegar... miles different!

When I was a kid, I hated when mum made sardines for dinner because they tasted so fishy. Then, she started making it on Good Friday because it was a day of abstinence. When i complained, my parents would trek me it was part of my penance, and to offer it to Jesus on the Cross. That tradition kind of stuck with me throughout uni in Australia and even to now, when i'm out living on my own and forging new paths and traditions. There are so many food traditions that stem from faith and from family. Maybe I'm just a creature of habit, but I'm quite happy to hold on to these traditions for a little while longer.
