The NUS Enterprise Summer Programme incorporating the STEP Entrepreneurship Initiative 2021 welcomed a record 230 participants earlier today, of which 100 youths are from ASEAN. This programme is a collaboration with , and will be taking place from 5 – 16 July 2021!
The two-week programme began with an opening address by Prof Tan Eng Chye and Mr Benedict Cheong, Chief Executive at Temasek Foundation International. It was highlighted that while Covid-19 may have disrupted lives and livelihoods, it has also opened new opportunities, new markets and new modes of doing things. In the Southeast Asian region, we have seen the accelerated growth of digitalization, online businesses and the logistics sector.
The participants had a sneak peek into the specially curated segments where students will experience NUS and Singapore in a gamified format. It was followed by a sharing session by three alumni participants from Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore, where they shared their past programme experience and how it has impacted them in their personal and business growth over the years. They also advised our 2021 participants to keep an open mind as they learn from and network with people in the ecosystem.
In the next two weeks, participants can expect to learn the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems in Singapore, Southeast Asia and beyond, and to inspire one another as they work together to develop their new venture ideas!
