“What do they pair well with?”

bring a naturally sweet, nutty flavour, so they get along with warm spices, mellow fruits and creamy textures.

Think cinnamon, dates, bananas, oats, vanilla, warm milk or even coffee!

Not just for snacking.

Tigernuts are the chameleons of the pantry - they blend, bake, soak and surprise.

Turn them into smoothies, horchata, flour or even energy balls.

So yes, snack away. But know you’re sitting on an ingredient with range.

“Why are they called tigernuts?”

They’re not nuts, and they certainly don’t come from tigers.

The name comes from their stripes - faint brown markings on the skin that look a little like tiger patterns.

Sweet, stripy and anything but wild.

“Are good for you?”

They’re naturally high in fibre, rich in resistant starch and prebiotics - which means they help feed the good bacteria in your gut.

Plus, they’re gluten-free, nut-free and full of slow-release energy.

Nature’s snack with a secret: it’s been healthy all along.

“Can you cook with them?”

Not just for snacking - can be ground into flour and used in baking.

Cookies, pancakes, even energy bars take on a sweet and nutty edge without needing nuts at all.

High fibre. Naturally gluten-free. Delicious.

What would you bake with tigernut flour?

“How do people eat them?

are enjoyed in many ways around the world.

In Spain 🇪🇸 they’re soaked and blended into horchata de chufa - a creamy, refreshing drink you’ll find in every corner of Valencia.

In Nigeria 🇳🇬 they’re eaten raw or ground into kunu aya, a spiced drink with ginger and dates.

In Ghana 🇬🇭 they’re often part of a trail mix with peanuts and coconut flakes.

Crunchy, chewy, milky… tigernuts take on many textures and tastes, depending on how you prep them.

How would you eat them?

“What do they taste like?”

don’t taste like peanuts, almonds or walnuts.

They’re naturally sweet with earthy, nutty notes - somewhere between coconut, vanilla, and cereal milk.

You’ll either chew them raw, soak them for softness or blend them into something creamy.

Eat them straight, soak them overnight, blend them into , or crush them into flour.

“Are they really nuts?”

You’d be forgiven for thinking so! Despite the name, tigernuts aren’t nuts at all - they’re nutrient-rich tubers harvested from the soil and packed with natural sweetness and fibre. Crunchy, chewy and a little earthy. You’ll see why they’ve been loved for centuries.
