Spotting little creamy or fatty patches in your frozen breast milk? 👀

Breast milk naturally contains tiny fat globules dispersed throughout the milk.

When milk freezes, ice crystals begin to form. If the freezing process is slower, those fat globules have more time to move closer together and cluster, which can show up as visible fatty spots or patches in the bag.

A few fatty spots are not necessarily a bad thing. 💛

But if you’re noticing a lot of clustering across your frozen stash, it may be worth checking how quickly your milk is freezing.

Things to look at:
• Is your freezer cold enough?
• Are the bags taking a long time to freeze solid?
• Are bags stacked too closely together before freezing?
• Is your freezer very full or frequently opened?

The goal isn’t “perfect-looking” frozen milk. It’s making sure your stash is being frozen and stored properly.

Our tip:

Use the side of the pot as support when sealing your milk bag, press the zip seal firmly against it as you close. Makes it much easier to get a proper seal.

Okay real talk. After freeze-drying milk from so many mums, I can almost tell before I even open the cooler bag.

The stashes that come in frozen flat, air pushed out? Neat, stackable, clean. The ones with air trapped inside? You can already see the little ice crystals forming along the top. That’s freezer burn starting.

Same milk. Same freezer. The only difference is a five-second habit before the bag goes in.

So if you’re building a stash, this is the one worth keeping:

Push the air out. Seal it. Freeze it flat.

Flat bags stack like files, so you fit way more into the same freezer. They thaw more evenly. And honestly they travel better too when it’s time to send them over to us.

Grate the egg in circular motion to create the soft, cloud like texture.

6 months: Fine grated hard-boiled egg is a great texture for beginners. You can mix it with breast milk, formula, or a smooth puree to make it easier to swallow.

7–8 months: Baby can usually manage slightly larger grated pieces or lightly mashed egg.

9–12 months: Most babies can pick up chopped egg pieces as finger food with their pincer grasp.

Important: Egg is a common allergen. Introduce it slowly and monitor your baby for any reaction.
