For me, wine is all about community — exploring together, exchanging views, having fun, and appreciating those »drops of god«, as some call it, that capture a moment in time through the terroir. 🍷✨

This year's 27th Slovenian Wine Festival once again brought together fantastic wineries and curious wine lovers at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana, creating a warm, vibrant atmosphere.

I'm proud to have been part of the Sommelier Master School team again. Thank you, Špela and Aleksander Bohinc! We were diving into wine aromas and, together with Netis and my colleagues Sebastjan Pirih and Melita Gulja, issuing digital credentials to visitors – the next big thing in education and wine.🍇💡

And, I loved sharing the experience with friends as we hunted for interesting labels and vintages. 🍷🤝

To everyone visiting Slovenia these days, happy St. Martin’s Day — the moment when must turns into wine.
The photos are from last year's Slovenian wine festival, also featuring my dear friend Špela Bohinc.

And yes, this week, the country’s most important wine event, 27. The Slovenian wine festival will again take place at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana.

Once again, we’ll be delving into the world of wine aromas and offering exciting prizes to visitors. It’s truly a celebration for wine lovers, enthusiasts, professionals, and sommeliers alike.

I’m looking forward to discovering outstanding vintages, fresh innovations from winemakers, and especially the upcoming masterclass on sake — can’t wait to experience it all.

[SLOVENIAN/ITALIAN WINE] Did you know that some Slovenian and Italian vineyards in the Goriška region hold CRU status?

The first time I heard about the "Wine of peace and friendship", I was unaware of its connection to a significant historical milestone: Empress Maria Theresia's classification of the CRU estates in the princely county of Gorizia and Gradiška, which followed the Tavolare system.

Those estates are now divided between Slovenia and Italy, and the winemakers are joined in the "Association of the CRU Classification of the Empress-Queen Maria Theresia," founded by Charles-Louis de Noüe, a member of the prestigious Burgundian wine family Leflaive, and Slovenian winemaker Alis Marinič.

Every year, there is a charity auction of barrels of wine in the Franciscan monastery of Kostanjevica.
We had the privilege to taste the wine that will be offered at the auction on Saturday, the 25th of October 2025. Those are exquisite wines with magnificent ageing potential that reflect the terroir.

The tasting was organised by the Sommelier Master school and the Wine Trust Fund exclusively for their Wine and Spirits Sommelier Master club—a night to remember.

[Slovenian Wine] Severe winter conditions call for Slovenian wine with carachter!

Šturm Akord is pure perfection, macerated wine with warm honey notes and spices but also playful floral and fruity notes. Akord is a cuvee of three wine varieties produced only once or twice a decade. Wine that will leave an inpact!

Wonderfully paired with the scenery of Lake Jasna, Kranjska Gora!

Some milestones this summer 🎓😃

Although I have some sommelier diplomas under my belt, I was curious how a standardised global wine education looks like. I was not dissapointed and I passed WSET 2 in wine with distinction. 🏅🍷
