Looking at reports and people’s experiences from around the internet, it seems iPhone 18 Pro sales are not as strong as expected, especially compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The iPhone 18 Pro🍒 and iPhone 18 Pro Max🫐 retain the Dynamic Island,🚨 but Apple has reportedly redesigned the interface with a significantly smaller physical footprint. Rather than transitioning to a fully under-display selfie camera and Face ID system, Apple continues to use a refined version of the existing architecture while reducing the space required for the front-facing hardware.

The redesigned Dynamic Island is estimated to be roughly 30% to 50% smaller than previous generations, representing a notable improvement in display real estate. The reduction gives the iPhone 18 Pro models a cleaner visual appearance while maintaining the functionality that has become central to Apple's interactive status interface.

Apple has also expanded the Dynamic Island's ability to manage multiple forms of real-time information. The redesigned area can reportedly display and track up to three Live Activities or active app interactions simultaneously, allowing users to monitor several ongoing tasks without leaving the current application.

Despite earlier reports suggesting that Apple could adopt a punch-hole design or move the entire front-facing camera system beneath the display, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup continues to house its selfie camera within the smaller Dynamic Island structure. This approach allows Apple to reduce the visible footprint without making a more fundamental change to its front-facing camera architecture.

Face ID also remains integrated into the redesigned Dynamic Island through Apple's TrueDepth sensor system. The biometric authentication platform continues to provide secure device unlocking, Apple Pay authorization, and authentication for supported applications. The updated hardware is expected to deliver faster processing while preserving the security and convenience of Apple's existing Face ID experience.
