300g of tonkatsu… because apparently normal-sized pork wasn’t enough 🧐😜🇯🇵
We checked out Tonkatsu Marushichi at Siam Paragon, bringing the famous Tokyo-style tonkatsu experience to Bangkok, and this thing is seriously thick.
The pork is carefully prepared for up to 24 hours, then fried until you get that ridiculously crispy outside while keeping the centre tender and juicy. And yes… that gorgeous pink centre is intentional! 👀
I went for the Toku-Jou Tonkatsu Don, while Nene went for the Kaisen Katsu Don which a Thailand-exclusive bowl loaded with crispy crab katsu, Hokkaido scallops and a big Ama shrimp. 🦀🦐
And take my advice… don’t skip the wasabi sauce. Trust me. 😮💨
Japanese curry for dipping? Obviously.
Extra sauce? Absolutely.
Me trying to get through the queue because I’m “an influencer”? …also obviously. 😆
