Just like Australia, the rain brings out the wild flowers. Bottle Brush bush is now full with growth

Over 100 mm of rain has brought on a growth spurt in flowers and farm life.

Figs and flowers have relied on hand watering but the rain has changed that. But the accompanying winds have also brought damage breaking some trees.

Yes it is the start of the rainy season and 4 good falls over the last week but it is also bee hive harvesting. Some amazing smells and tastes because of all the different flowers and blossoms we have. So much work by so many small creatures. Amazing.

Finally a big storm tonight. Heavy rain that gave us 48 mm of rain. Badly needed for our trees and herbs

Our Burmese grapes are now ready. A bit sour but enjoyed by thais. Also good as basis for sauces. Unusual but part of the wide range of produce we are growing in Pang Mga at Katian Farm

Rhubarb growing has been a journey Many failures but we have persisted and believed. We now have 5 pots from seeds from Trevor and in addition 2 rhubarb crowns thanks to Roger.

It’s a real community effort. The growth is just over 12 inches tall so still a way to go yet this time we are hopeful. We are determined to succeed.

We thought they were jalapeño until they started turning read. Spicy and super taste. The great thing about gardening are the surprises. Grow or fail Taste mild or spicy. We had a guest the other day from Israel who spent 90 minutes walking the farm. He was told by a German couple who had visited that our farm was a must see. In the end they called our farm an experimental farm. We liked that.

Without a background in farming we have been learning as we go. Truly keeps the brain active

Finally our finger limes are producing finger limes. I tried some yesterday and the soft pink caviar like interior had an incredible lemon taste. Taken a while but well worth the trouble. The trees have lots of thorns so have to be careful. There will be about 3-4 pieces per 100 Gm. Markets are selling at 3,000 baht a kg.

Just a reminder if you missed it. The Farm has been underway for 4 years when the rubber trees were removed and the evolution to a hybrid farm started. We figure we have another 3-4 years before it is anywhere near finished

But halfway seemed a good time to have an open house with walk around to show where we are at

So on Saturday 10 January gates will be open. We will have some basic Aussies e BBQ from 3:00 pm onwards of sausages on a bread role with tomato sauce or mustard plus other things. There will be some wine and although we plan to Finnish ar dusk if there is enough people we might sit around our South African style fire pit and look at the stars.
