Launching a new content called ''A Kitchen's Heartbeat''. Inspired by Anthony Bourdain. The whole purpose is to highlight and feature entrepreneurs, chefs and share their untold stories from their POV. It's a Q&A format.
Episode 1 goes to Claire Chang, a new entry entrepreneur who started a soy-milk business called 沐甄豆 CareMully.
Q: What is 沐甄豆 CareMully and the origin?
C: Our family has produced soy-milk for over 20 years in the Zhonghe area, the origin of CareMully is because I wanted to popularize my mom's recipe. I went to a processing plant and asked them to make soy-milk, after several attempts, the CareMully is officially born.
During the beginning phase, I wanted to differentiate from others, so I traveled to soybean farms in Hualien, Taoyuan to partner with them to buy off their soybeans and I'll handle the marketing part. I want to let everyone know how good Taiwanese soy milk beans are.
Q: Where did you get that passion from?
C: To put in simple terms, I don't want a 9-5 job, I want to create something for the good of the people. When customers come to me and say I drink your soymilk and not others, this to me is a positive impact.
Q: What kind of challenge did you face during this journey?
C: Soy milk isn't a good subject, to me, when I started this business, finding the right product and the right audience, but soy milk is a common product. I locked myself in one zone, I have to find lots of time and talk to people about why I sell soymilk, after a great explanation, they are willing to try my soymilk steamed bun.
Q: Bring me back to your 1st sale, what was that like?
C:I drove for the whole day, I went to an elementary school, and a teacher bought soymilk from me and shared this product with her peers. But before this happened, I gave a free sample to the teachers, each one 350ml, if you like them, order from us. I felt so exuberant after the 1st sale.
Q: What's Caremully's values?
C: I gave my product 3 values. 1st is to have love, 2nd is transparency, it's important to let the customers know the ingredients and our team. Last is responsibility, whenever we are unsure of something, we invite a nutritionist to help us solve the issues.
