Today marks a big milestone for EYE-C She Works project. Officially the project has been launched by holding an inception meetings in Kigezi region.
The project is going to be implemented by the Integrated Seed and Sector Development (ISSD) Uganda with funding from aBi Development, International Women's Coffee Alliance (IWCA) and Café Africa) in partnership with MasterCard.
The project has been introduced to the different stakeholders including; district officials, MAAIF representative’s department of coffee, grower cooperatives and other relevant stakeholders in the region. The inception meeting has been held at Rukungiri district head quarters.
The Project will contribute to improved livelihoods of 120,000 young women in Western and South-Western region of Uganda through enhanced access to quality, demand-driven skills development and employment opportunities in the coffee sector and associated value chains by 2029.
By 2029, the She Works Project will contribute to improved livelihoods for 120,000 young women in Uganda’s Western and South-Western regions by expanding equitable access to quality, demand-driven skills development, dignified employment opportunities, and entrepreneurship pathways.
The project will also strengthen and position cooperatives and farmer organizations to serve, grow, and thrive alongside skilled young women engaged in the coffee sector and complementary value chains ensuring inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agrifood transformation.
The EYE-C She Works project will be implemented in Western and south western districts of Uganda including; Rwenzori Area (30,000 jobs) covering Kasese & Bwera anchored in Bukonzo Organic Farmers Cooperative Union (BOCU), Kigezi area anchored in Kigezi Coffee Development Academy (KCDA) & Kigezi Growers Cooperative Union covering district of Kanugu, Rukungiri, Kisoro, Rukiiga, Rubanda and Kabale and in Kabarole,Bunyagabu,Kiryandongo, Hoima, Kikube, Bundibugyo, Ibanda, Kamwenge, Bushenyi, Kyenjojo anchored in RSTC & GI cooperatives reaching a total of 120,000 young women of whom 100,000 will be transitioned to traceable dignified incomes.
She works project is implemented in the districts of: Kasese, Kanugu, Rukungiri, Kisoro, Rukiiga, Rubanda and Kabale, Kabarole including fort portal city, Bunyagabu, Kiryandongo, Hoima, Kikube, kakumiro, kibaale, Bundibugyo, Kamwenge, kyegegwa and Kyenjojo.
