Planting beans π« π
Every step is very crucial to achieve higher yields.
Always choose good proven seeds.
Soil type - Beans thrive in well-drained loams or clay-loam soils with a pH between 6.0 and 6.5.
Plough and harrow your land thoroughly to create a fine, smooth seedbed. This ensures uniform germination and deep root expansion.
Apply 2 to 4 tonnes of well-decomposed manure per acre during your first land preparation to enhance organic matter.
Planting in straight rows makes weeding, spraying, and calculating plant population significantly easier.
Plant in clear lines rather than broadcasting to optimize plant populations and make weeding or spraying efficient.
Space your rows 50 cm apart, and drop individual seeds 10 cm apart within each line.
Sow seeds at a depth of 3 to 5 cm. For pure stands, use a seed rate of roughly 25 to 30 kg of seeds per acre.
Apply 25 kg of DAP fertilizer per acre directly into the planting holes or furrows, mixing it well with the soil before placing the seeds. 2 seeds per hole is highly recommended.
Spray beans with pesticides while in the holes before you cover them with light soil.
Wait for rain and irrigate if it doesn't rain within the first 3 days.
