One of the only things we look foward to as much as Halloween happens just a few days later. The longest running gathering of cider makers in the US happens every year in Western Mass. If you're a bit of a cider geek like us you have to check Franklin County CiderDays. Workshops, cider talks and 46 cider houses pouring their cider including us of course, this annual gathering is the real deal.

This amazing puffball is the fruiting body of an ectomycorrhizal fungi, a type of fungi that wraps itself around apple tree roots. This relationship may sound parasitic but the fungi stimulates the growth of many more short roots resulting in an actual net gain in root absorptive area overall allowing an apple tree the ability to soak up those nutrients more efficiently aaand they are delicious when fried up!

It's been a real steep learning curve trying to grow cider varieties with as absolutely little intervention as possible. A lot of lessons learned and a huge amount of gained respect for all folks growing apples. Next year we've got a lot of new ideas we are really excited to try and new varieties we are looking foward to getting in the ground.
