Check out these awesome nails a local artist created after being inspired by the bees! 🐝

Look at the detail 👀 the care, the precision, the creativity!

Lilly, you are an amazingly talented artist!

If you wondered, she doesn’t just do bees, but we just had to share these here. I’ll share another option she recently did that was bee themed as well. 🐝🌼

I don’t think I can keep bees in these but I will definitely be making an appointment to get fitted for one of her nail creations when the season comes to a crawl…because we all know it never completely stops!

National Pollinator Week, Day 6:

Pollen! This frame showcases the result of the flower fidelity that bees practice, which is why they are such efficient pollinators.

🌸🐝🌱🐝🍀

Bees need pollen for their brood. This protein rich and nutrient dense food helps larvae develop into worker bees.

Not bee 🐝 related, so scroll if you must. But this morning we made the difficult decision to put our Casey down. She’d been battling cancer for 2 years. We didn’t expect her to live long past that realization but here we are.
A part of being a good steward of God’s creation and the things he makes for us, be it for work or enjoyment, is being responsible enough to know when the right time is for our animals to go. Today was that day.
Last night was long, the morning…even longer. Our eldest Aidan had been a trooper at helping with this! We’d been talking about it for some time and today was the day. If you’ve known us for a while, you know we are a LONG time husky family, dating back to 2003 when we purchased Dakota. We adopted Casey in 2010 in WA state when a great friend called us after we lost Dakota. So today, she was 16 yrs old.
We adopted Bosco in 2025 when another great friend called us from Thomasville, GA with a need for a home. Of course, his young age waged war on Casey and that fed our decision to end her suffering. Huskies are a different breed. We normally keep most things like this private but many of our friends are aware of our love for huskies and we’d thought we’d share this news with our followers.

We don't advocate for the regular person to feed the honeybees. You will not like what shows up to that dish, trust me. But here is a side-by-side comparison to show you the difference between what we supplement with this time of year for honeybees and what you can do at home for hummingbirds!

NOTE: Although sugar in its raw format is good for human consumption, it is not good for these creatures. They lack the complex filtration systems we do and their bodies do not do well with all the extra goodies that benefit our bodies. Unrefined sugar can lead to dysentery in honeybees and ends in fatality.

🐝🌺🌷🥀🐝

So, it should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway... stop feeding that red crap from the store to the hummingbirds. Make your own. It's cheaper, more convenient and healthier!

Ladies, here's your permission slip to go out this weekend and find you a beautiful feeder to try this out with! 🥀🛒👜👛📸

🍰 Here's a recipe to help you celebrate It's a southern favorite, the Hummingbird Cake! But of course we had to find a recipe to share that included our all time favorite ingredient : HONEY!

So hop on over to print this one and try it today or save it for the weekend and share with friends and family!

I’m going out on a limb here, but I’m pretty sure most people have never heard of Hummingbird Cake. In fact, I have no idea how I eve know about the cake! If you’ve never heard of it, Hummingbird cake is a moist banana cake filled with pineapple, pecans, and sometimes coconut then topped with....

National Pollinator Week, Day 5:

The Hummingbird 📸 👀

The often forgotten pollinator! Hummingbirds are incredibly efficient pollinators and pollinate about 8000 different species of plants. Between their incessant need for energizing nectar and their ability to reach deeply within long tubular flowers, we owe much of the beauty we see to our tiny, feathered friends!
🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
I tell my kids all the time that we serve an amazing God and His creation can bring us back to that reality as long as we just slow down and observe it from time to time. So when they found this little guy after he had flew into one of our windows in the midst of a dogfight with another hummer (they are fiercely territorial), they knew they had to save it. And, save it they did! I'm not sure how he fared with the damaged beak but after a tiny soda lid full of sugar syrup and a few minutes rest on our patio, he was back to normal at least for the day!
