For those of you that know me on Facebook you’ve seen that my spunky palomino mare injured herself pretty badly last August. We were checking the horses before heading to a family party when we noticed Honey’s leg. When I saw it I immediately thought I was going to have to put her down. We called the vet out and she got to work cleaning and addressing the wound. Not only did she sever a tendon, but she also sawed a 1/4 inch into her bone. The vet was hopeful so we kept her tied in her stall so she wouldn’t lay down for two weeks. Each day we did cold hose her leg and reapply the dressing. You can see the progression of the healing in the photos. It currently is nothing more than a scab. A couple weeks ago she was cleared to finally have a little turnout which went thankfully uneventful. With the progress she has shown thus far both the vet and I are hopeful that by next summer she can be back to full work! I’m really hoping and praying this is true as I miss riding my golden rocket pony! She has blown my expectations out of the water and been an absolute saint even with being on stall rest for 8 months! I love my little mare and hope she heals up!

Was going through photos on my phone and saw this one. I hope I can see this view again one day!

Had a lot of fun at a barrel clinic a couple weeks ago. Learned a lot and have been continuing working on our softness, collection, rate, and making sure our circles are even 😊 I love this little mare!

Don’t mind my disgusting ba****ck butt while I lead my buckskin duns 🤣. I’m really missing Otter Creek and just want to go back every other weekend if I could!
What places do you like to go camping/trail riding with your horses?

💃🏼Show her a little swing💃🏼
I don’t know why, but I love seeing those mecate reins just swing 😅. It’s one of those proud trainer moments where you can have a horse on a long, loose rein and trust them to be chill.

Cecil is a 5 year old registered Appaloosa that I bought 2 years ago. Cecil has got to be one of my best horses hands down! This was his first time ever being ridden ba****ck and he took it all in stride and took care of me! If I slipped back or leaned too far forward he would slow right down until I readjusted myself. He would even slow down when I grabbed a little bit of his mane in preparation for going up and down a hill. I love this horse!

This gelding is worth his weight in gold! We had just made it 20 minutes down the road to Otter Creek when we realized his buddy in the pasture had double barrel kicked him a few times on the trailer. We quickly switched him to my friends trailer and hoped for the best and continued on the road.
When we got there we saw the extent of the injury. No broken bones, but a few cuts, scrapes, and the starting of a hematoma on his belly near his girth area. We iced, have bute, and put lineament gel on him in hopes my boyfriend could still ride the next day. By morning the hematoma had moved down by his girth(thanks gravity 🙄) making it impossible to put a saddle on without causing him discomfort by tightening a girth.
We continued treatment Friday and Saturday and saw the swelling go down quite a bit, but both days my boyfriend got left behind while we all went out riding. He stayed behind making sure Cecil got some walking in and attention while his buddies were gone.
By Sunday, our last day, I said if he wasn’t lame I was hopping on ba****ck and letting my boyfriend ride Honey so he could go with. Cecil has never bee ridden ba****ck so I really didn’t know what to expect. Everybody racked up and got on. I pulled Cecil over to the trailer and used the fender to climb on. He sunk down and braced like he might scoot forward as soon as I sat down. I pulled him to a one rein stop and rubbed his neck letting him know it was just me up there. I got my mecate rein adjusted and off we went.
We tried to stick to some flatter trails that day as they didn’t want me sliding off his back, but let me tell you, this horse is a SAINT! Any hill we came to, up or down, he slowed right down and checked in with me if I shifted a little too much forward or back. I never thought that when I bought this horse this is how he would turn out! The Method WORKS! All those weeks of training, blood, sweat and tears payed off big time! I’m more than confident now that this horse will protect my boyfriend on their future rides together.

Guess who is finally registered!! Daisy!! After almost a year of waiting she is officially Get Them Gold Bars! Daisy is also going through another growth spurt! I think I like her conformation a lot more than I do her sister’s, especially at this age. This girl is gonna be a big one as well. She’s about 14hh now and still growing! I expect her to finish out closer to 15-15.2 hands. My farrier even days she’s definitely going to be bigger than her sister 😅
