Hi everyone!!
I wanted to address a situation that was recently brought to my attention involving one of our eggs. While the person affected reached out to me privately, I wanted to address it publicly because being transparent with you guys is very important to me.
One of our eggs appeared to have been fertilized and had begun very early development before it reached refrigeration. Since we do have roosters, it is possible for eggs to become fertilized, but because we collect our eggs daily, we never expected any embryo development to occur, as they don’t get incubated by the hens. I was thinking it was a fluke, but my family also found the same thing in one of our eggs. We are still trying to determine exactly how it occurred.
That being said: we understand this may be upsetting or uncomfortable to experience, and it is absolutely not something we ever want our customers to encounter!!!
We collect our eggs daily and take cleanliness, freshness, and proper egg handling very seriously. We are already taking additional steps to make sure this does not happen again!! Including ordering an egg candler so we can carefully check every egg before it is sold.
I sincerely apologize to anyone who may have been uncomfortable or upset by the experience. Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. If you ever have concerns about a carton you purchased from us, we will gladly make it right.
Thank you all for your continued support, patience, and understanding as we continue improving our process.
