Day 2 without their mom. Haven’t lost their voices yet, but they’re working on it. If they keep this up I bet they’ll be hoarse by tomorrow. Poor little guys. Especially the one on the left. He also got banded! #babygoats #weaningisroughstuff #babygoatsofinstagram #goats #farmlife #iowafarm #boergoats #dappledboergoat

Goat superstar! Seems only yesterday this kid was a teeny tiny little thing the size of a rabbit born early and in the cold. Now she’s being weaned and is killing the halter-breaking lessons. People driving by on the road might wonder what the heck I’m doing leading a goat around like a dog, but if they ever tried to make a full-grown goat that isn’t broke to lead go where it doesn’t want to go ... they would understand! #babygoats #worknowsavetimelater #biggoatsarestrong #farmlife #iowafarm

New arrival: A teeny tiny little goat the size of a rabbit. She had a rough start being born out in the cold, but seems to be eating and doing OK. #fingerscrossed #goats #goatsofinstagram

Time to climb on mom! He’s still learning how to use his legs, but that didn’t stop him from giving it a shot. 😂 #farmlife #babygoats #goatsofinstagram

Drying off baby goats in the bathroom. Their momma surprised us and had them out in the unheated barn (5 degrees). The little brown one was sitting up in the doorway, but the white one was flat on its side and looked dead. They both perked up pretty nicely though and are now back with mom, resting comfortably. Their mother, btw, is called Bathroom Goat because she also was born in a cold day. #farmlife #babygoats #goatsofinstagram

More baby goat cuteness. Note to self ...Don’t name this goat. I repeat, do NOT name this goat! #farmlife #babygoats #goatsofinstagram #babyanimals

As requested: A little baby goat video for your enjoyment. One of them is very “talky.” #babygoats #goatsofinstagram #farmlife

What’s that on the roof? He’s the second farm dog we’ve had that seems to enjoy exploring the tops of buildings after a giant #snowstorm. The first, Honey, was an amazing farm dog that came with the place when my family moved in during the mid-1980s. #dogs #farmdog #farmlife #iawx

This barn cat is the best. You can’t even throw hay for the horses without him clowning around. #cats #catsofinstagram #farmlife #farm #iowafarm #pets

01/26/2019

A kitten stole my mitten. And, I’ve got it on tape! So, I took my mittens off tonight and Put them on a hay bale so I my hands were free to take photos of the sunset out the west window of the barn. I was so focused on what I was doing, and trying to catch the light off icicles hanging off the roof, that I didn’t realize one of my mittens was gone. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I see a barn cat dragging it across the hayloft. For some reason, Smidge decided to run off with it. As you can see from the video, for whatever reason, she was pretty committed to the cause and didn’t Thankfully she dropped it. She was headed for a hole in between the bales, and if she would’ve taken it back into the stack of bales it would’ve been Spring before I got it back! Goes to show you that you can always be surprised. I’ve lost a lot of gloves, but never because it was stolen by a cat. #farmlife #iowa #cats

Timmy is sad and lonely. He just got weaned from his mom, and a few days ago he got castrated. But it’s actually a good day for him. All his brothers and sisters are in Minnesota at a sale, but Timmy’s not with them. He’s staying on the farm as a pet goat. Am I crazy? Yeah, but, I really don’t care. It’s only money, right? #theycantkilltimmy #goats #goatsofinstagram #farm #iowafarm #farmlife #babygoats

After 4 days with cardboard-and-electrical tape leg braces, Tiny Tim aka “Timmy” the baby goat (spots,) is bouncing around like he never had a problem. The first day, he was in pain and could barely walk. Poor guy would fall over on his side, and then couldn’t get up. But Timmy is a tough little goat, and soldiered on while trying to keep up with everybody else. Right now he thinks he is pretty hot stuff...Even though his twin brother mopped the floor with him in a game of king of the mountain 😊 #goats #babygoats #determination #perserverance #farmlife #iowafarm #iowafarmlife #family #siblings #farm #iowa

While goat moms are away the baby goats will play. Let the mother goats outside — they’d been cooped up inside for a good while and practically ran me over to get fresh air— and the babies had the barn all to themself. It was like NASCAR in there! #farmlife #iowafarm #farm #goats #goatsofinstagram #babygoats #babygoat #rural #rurallife #babyanimals

Move over, boys! The beautiful Ebony Shines just became the first mare to reach NRHA Million Dollar status, turning what used to be a fraternity into a coed club

Here's how she hit the mark--->https://qhne.ws/2OCBjIj

Thirty-Eight stallions have earned the distinction of being an NRHA Million Dollar Sire, but there has never been an NRHA Million Dollar Dam. That changes now. Ebony Shines, already a member of the NRHA Hall of Fame, recently unofficially became the first mare to reach that milestone, the National R...

Hans Hansma Named to AQHA Hall of Fame - Quarter Horse News

Hans Hansma learned about horses on the family farm in Holland. Later, after moving to Alberta, he used to drive all over the province looking at people's horses.

Now, he's going in the American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame. Story---> https://qhne.ws/2HDAcp3

Hans Hansma was a man who really liked horses. The American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Class of 2019 Hall of Fame inductee used to think nothing of driving all across the province of Alberta with a friend, said his son, cutting horse trainer Winston. Those weren’t horse-buying expeditions. T...

The show season is almost here, and I can hardly wait. . As the ice starts to melt, It’s time to get my loaner horse here, Doc, (thanks @skkramer14!) ready for this year’s show season. It’ll be my first year showing after more than a decade of just an occasional (like, maybe once a year) trail ride. Want to eventually get into reined cow horse, but this will probably be more of a transition year for me as Doc and I have never done cow horse. . Not sure what he and I are going to do. Because he doesn’t know how to do cow horse, maybe we can try ranch horse pleasure? Maybe it’ll be local saddle club shows? Maybe I focus on #horseselfie lessons and just trail ride Doc until I get a cow horse that’s trained enough to help me. . We’re going to try to figure it out next month at Monty Bruce’s performance horse clinic in Northwood, Iowa. I’m sure he will be able to point us in the right direction. . Anybody else starting on a new horse path this year? How are you approaching it? What about those of you who have switched from one discipline to another or got back into showing after years on the sidelines? Any advice? #goals #horsegoals #goforit #iowafarm #iowawinter #farmlife #iowa #horses #cowhorse #aqha #reining #slideofyourlife #quarterhorses #minnesota #minnesotafarm #horseshow #horseselfie #horselife #horseshowlife #horsesofinstagram #horseshows #horseshows #quarterhorsesofinstagram #FB http://ift.tt/2GTXjeg
