Farm life can be so difficult!
Everyone remembers Aurora, the beautiful girl that was born Saturday! She is still gorgeous and healthy, but unfortunately has been rejected by her mom! In our current situation we can't use other moms to nurse her, since they either have their own or are still pregnant. We spent hours on Mother's Day attempting to pen her and her mom together in hopes they bond. Mom was having none of it and actually tore apart the metal enclosure to escape.
This is moms second baby girl, and is not the norm for mom!
We made the decision to move Aurora! She is now penned with our guard dog Lennox, our sheep/lambs and chickens. We hope in the next week she will fit right in with her new home. We plan to continue bottle feeding her until she is willing and ready to eat grass and water on her own. When she is old enough, we will move her back in with the rest of the herd, including her mom!
In a happy turn of events though, Aurora is super friendly, and has bonded with Nate. She will come running to him when he calls for her, and loves all the pets, scratches and cuddles from us and the kids.
Lennox has also greeted her with caution, but has shown zero aggression towards her. Lennox knows babies in need!
