We're the Oliver family in Amarillo, Texas. We've been serving the American cowboy with quality leather goods for four generations. Oliver (Claude) started his shop in Vernon, Texas in 1917 and was later joined by sons Bill and Jack. They continued the tradition of serving the working cowboy under the name of Oliver Brothers Saddle Shop until Bill moved to Prescott, Arizona in the early 50's. Bill

returned to his native Texas and opened the Bill Oliver Saddle Shop in Amarillo in 1960. Richard Oliver joined his dad and in time was joined by his sons. Each generation has passed along the knowledge and skills needed to build the best equipment possible for the working ranch cowboy, the pleasure horseman, and the competing showman. Our pride runs deep in our saddles and tack that we build and use ourselves. Each saddle is handmade, numbered, and put in our records. We can usually give you full information on any saddle we have made, just find the number on the cantle and give us a call. Richard and his sons Bryan and Zeb Oliver combined offer over 45 years of experience in building ranch, cutting, roping and show saddles and tack. The Oliver family have welcomed in other craftsmen to be a part of the Oliver team. Colt Vernon builds saddles, strap goods, and is also our local roping expert. Caitlyn Pancake builds leggings and strap goods. Roy Sansom crafts belts and gift items. Hunter Lane does cleaning, repairs, and builds tack. Brazlyn Woodard waits on the front and takes care of social media. We are blessed to have such great employees. That about rounds out our crew and any of us can assist you in any of your needs when you come by or call. If you are ever in the area, please come by and visit - the coffee's always on and we love meeting new friends and visiting with old ones. The most familiar faces are from here in the southwest but friends have been made nation and world wide. Yesterday, today and tomorrow - the Oliver family name stands for quality.

In the 1980s, 4-H allowed riders to collect points from both English and Western riding disciplines. The accumulation of these points gave riders a chance to compete in the state competition. With English disciplines gaining popularity, Richard and Billy Oliver decided to not only sell English tack, but even take English riding lessons! Watch this week’s Flashback Friday to learn more!🐎🤠
