Great news coming from Amherst!

We have spent over a week now tracking a guinea hen that has been traveling around our area. We have talked to many people where she has been hanging out. No one knows where she belonged so finally we got contacted she was on someone’s porch and would not leave- she was obviously exhausted. Zach left work and went to the house and was able to catch her very easily!

She is clearly extremely dehydrated and hungry and exhausted from being a traveling girl and flying around all over the place for over a week now! She is currently going to be in a quarantine coop and run by herself while we watch her for a few weeks and then we will move her into a flock to make a nice new family where she will be protected by a completely fenced in run!

And as a reminder, we are a nonprofit in the state of New Hampshire and we run 100% off of any donations and Zach and Hava‘s incomes and Zach and Hava are the only two people that work on the rescue so if you can donate I will put our links below or if you can share this post to others to get the word out that would help us quite a bit!

Did you know that dried leaves can give a huge amount of benefits to the animals that live in our sanctuary?

Goats love to eat dried leaves when they fall in their pasture we call them sky potato chips because they all run and grab some. They also provide necessary fiber to help their ruins work perfectly and a lot of leaves produce tans which cause natural anti-parasite and anti-worms. Feeding dried leaves also helps us cut down on our extremely high hay bills for the winter!

Our chickens also love the leaves! It is a natural toy for them, where they dig through them all day to find little bugs and worms for them to eat. It also helps combat the mud and the nasty ground that they have been digging up all summer to create a natural decomposing flooring for their runs.

It even helps our ducks. The muddy is animal on the farm. It helps make their run nice and clean, which helps aid in our ducks, not getting different foot illnesses from wet flooring.

Right now we are pairing up with little bug landscaping who is offering $50 vacuum leaf cleanup so all you do is break your leaves to the curbside and he will come and vacuum them up with his box truck drive them to the farm and dump them out for us to use for our animals. That way you get rid of those pesky leaves in your yard and we get all these benefits!

You choose from either raking your own leaves to the curb and paying $50 for Little Bug Landscaping to vacuum them all up for you and take them away or a full cleanup starting at $200! A portion of all fall services will be donated to the sanctuary!

You can sign up to be on his route for the end of the fall season by texting or calling 603-721-1910 or 603-320-4904 or messaging either us or Little Bug Landscaping on Facebook!
