Simply grateful for the view today. Can’t imagine this way of life changing for a data center…

We can’t control the world around us but right here at Desoto Food Forest, we can control what happens on our 4 acre farm. We rotationally graze all of our poultry and through regenerative farming practices have seen this property blossom from the natural fertilizer instead of using pesticides and herbicides.

We’re trying to protect our corner of the world. We’re committed to stewarding this land the best way possible AND produce food we are proud to feed our family and yours. Thank you for supporting local agriculture and helping keep farms like ours growing. 💚🌿🥚🐔

Since starting Desoto Food Forest almost 2 years ago, we have lived and breathed chickens 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗱𝗮𝘆!! For over a year, we’ve also been committed to attending 𝗧𝗪𝗢 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸, all while caring for our animals and growing this business from the ground up.

This week, we’re finally taking our first 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙫𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 in nearly two years. No sooner had we sat down to relax than our neighbor alerted us to a brand-new calf that needed to start bottle feeding. So, just like that… we’re cow parents now. 🐄🐮🍼🤦‍♀️

We can’t help but laugh because that’s farm life—you can step away for a few days, but caring for animals is never really something you clock out of. And this isn’t our first rodeo 🤠; after raising our water buffalo calf, we already know a thing or two about bottle babies!

We’re 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙛𝙪𝙡 for this life and for every customer who has supported us along the way. Your support has allowed us to build something we’re truly proud of and finally take a moment to recharge before getting back to doing what we love. 🌿🐄🥚🐔❤️

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 🌾🐔🐄🥛🥩🍗

When we attended our very first farmers market in December 2024, we showed up with just 𝟴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 on our table and a passion for providing our community with truly pasture-raised, corn and soy-free poultry.

Since then, that passion has continued to grow. Through conversations with customers and a desire to make more nutrient-dense, locally produced foods available, we’ve expanded far beyond poultry. Today, we offer 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟳𝟬 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀, including pasture-raised chicken and duck, 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀-𝗳𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀-𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗳, 𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘆, 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺-𝗳𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀

These side-by-side photos tell a story of growth, but more importantly, they tell a story of community. Every purchase, referral, social media share, and encouraging conversation has helped us build something we never could have accomplished alone.

💘🐾🐔 Love is in the air on the farm this Valentine’s Day! 🐔🐾💘

We’re celebrating with our favorite crew — happy dogs guarding our poultry family, healthy chickens in the pasture, and a whole lot of farm love. Nothing says romance like muddy boots, wagging tails, and fresh farm goodness.

Keep the love going this Sunday at the Wellen Park Farmers Market from 9-2! You’ll find us front and center, right outside the art festival, stocked up and ready to see all of you. Come say hi, grab your farm favorites, and make it a Valentine’s weekend to remember. ❤️

After an absolutely brutal week of weather, we woke up to the best kind of surprise yesterday morning. 🐣

One of our hens had quietly snuck off and laid a hidden nest we never found—and somehow, in the middle of 20–30° temps and 40–50 mph winds, a chick hatched.

These animals never cease to amaze me. Resilient, determined, and tough as they come. Life really does always find a way. 💛

No farmers market for us this Sunday—but for a great reason! 🐓 We’re at the APPPA conference diving deep into all things pastured poultry and chicken, and meeting so many incredible, hardworking, and passionate industry experts. We’re feeling inspired and energized as we learn new ways to better serve our customers and continue providing clean, responsibly raised meat. Can’t wait to bring these ideas back to our farm and to YOU. See everyone next week and stay warm! 🥶🥰
