🐐 We got up early this morning and did a little goat showing! We entered the spring show put on by SW AR District Livestock Show last minute and ended up taking 6 goats with us. Two of those were the babies! This was Pearl and Lottie’s very first outing and show. A huge “Thank you” goes to Holland Dooly for handling and showing the babies perfectly in the ring and being so patient with them considering neither of the babies had any idea what was going on. Holland even left with a new title, Grand Champion Junior Goat Showman! Thank you Dooly’s for your help and for stepping out of your comfort zone and showing a few dairy goats! Another “Thank you” goes to the little girl and her mom that helped us get the 4th goat in for the grand drive! I didn’t get their names but we were so thankful for them for helping us!

Here’s the results from today:

Milk Dud - 1st in class 2
Tilly - 1st in class 1
Vicky - 1st in class 3
Pip - 2nd in class 3
Lottie - 1st in class 4
Pearl - 2nd in class 4

Milk Dud, Tilly, Vicky, and Lottie all went back in for the grand drive with the dam and daughter duo placing Grand (Tilly) and Reserve Champion (Milk Dud) Dairy Goats.
Only London did showmanship (Brylie has a raging sinus infection) and she ended up with Grand Champion Senior Goat Showman. It was a fantastic day!

***Side note: Pearl is spoiled rotten so in an effort to keep her somewhat quiet while her mom was in the show ring, I had to hold her. 🙄 Also, loading 6 goats up this morning was CHAOS! Unloading was super easy! We opened cage doors and the pasture gate and they all went where they were supposed to!

District Fair results!

Brylie:
Grand Champion Senior Dairy Showman
Class 4 winner with “Pip”

London:
Grand Champion Intermediate Dairy Showman
Class 5 winner with “Vicky”
Class 2 winner with “Milkdud”
Class 1 winner with “Tilly”

All 4 goats went on to compete in the grand drive with Tilly winning grand and Milkdud winning reserve!

Brylie also won Grand Champion Single Fryer. She had a couple Best of Breeds with her Californian and Champagne.

A little county fair update!

They had numerous Best of Breeds, Best Opposite of Breeds, and first place ribbons on their rabbits and chickens.
London won Grand and Reserve Champion Waterfowl as well as Reserve Champion Breeding Turkey.
Brylie won Grand Champion Meat Pen, Reserve Champion Single Fryer, and Grand Champion Breeding Turkey.
Brylie also was first runner up in her pageant and London was second runner up. They were both gorgeous and I’m so proud of them for stepping out of their comfort zone and giving the pageant world a try all by themselves as I was busy with both the poultry and rabbit show that day.
Tuesday night we had to have a little more help since Lon brought a crap ton of dairy goats to the show, one of which we refer to as “the feral one”. Nora and Holland stepped up again and helped her show all of them and we are extremely grateful for their help. Shows never go as planned and animals never behave like they normally do, so there were a few hiccups, but nothing they couldn’t handle!
Brylie’s little goat “Pip” (aka Honey Boo Boo) won a second place ribbon, and Lon’s little goat “Vicky” won a first place ribbon in the junior does class. “Tilly” our homegrown baby won Grand Champion dairy goat and “Vicky” took the title of Reserve Dairy goat. Tilly went back in to compete for Overall Breeding goat and came out Grand Champion! London also won Grand Champion Senior Goat Showmanship with Brylie taking Reserve Senior Goat Showmanship.
